BWW Review: PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is Starstuff!

Having never seen the five-time Tony Award winning PETER AND THE STARCATCHER prior to the preview at Omaha's Rose Theater last night, I did not know what to expect. I suppose I was thinking it would be similar to the classic Disney movie or the more recent Broadway hit FINDING NEVERLAND, but it was neither. And it was both.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF presents PETER AND THE STARCATCHER now through January 3, 2016 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, the musical play is a wildly theatrical and innovative retelling of how a nameless orphan came to be The Boy Who Never Grew Up. PETER & THE STARCATCHER Soars into The Rose Tonight

Audiences will be transported to the enchanted world of Neverland, where pirates rule, mermaids sing and a boy can choose to never grow up, in The Rose Theater's production of PETER & THE STARCATCHER, tonight, Dec. 4-27. In this whimsical origin story of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, an apprentice Starcatcher and an orphan boy take to the high seas encountering Lost Boys, pirates, fighting mollusks and mermaids.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents PETER AND THE STARCATCHER by Rick Elice, based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, with music by Wayne Barker and directed by Blake Robison. This whimsical and uproarious journey to the Neverland we never knew runs tonight, December 2-27 on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts.

PBS Book View Now Streams 2015 Miami Book Fair

As the temperature outside dips across most of the country, we are warming up for second day of extensive coverage of the 2015 Miami Book Fair, live from Miami Dade College. All this weekend, PBS audiences across the country are invited to take part in one of the nation's oldest and largest literary festivals—the 32nd annual Miami Book Fair at Miami Dade College (MDC), featuring interviews with dozens of authors, illustrators and celebrities led by Jeffrey Brown, Chief Correspondent for Arts, Culture, and Society for PBS NewHour and Book View Now host Rich Fahle.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER Opens 12/5 at freeFall Theatre

freeFall Theatre Company presents holiday production of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, opening on December 5 and running through Christmas Eve with added performances on Wednesdays at 7pm throughout the run and on Sundays evenings on December 13 and December 20 at 7pm.

On December 3, TheatreSquared will begin performances of the critically acclaimed Peter and the Starcatcher, a fast-paced theatrical adventure for audiences of all ages. Mark Shanahan (Around the World in 80 Days, The Quest for Don Quixote) will direct this new adaptation by Rick Elise, based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, with music by Wayne Barker.

PlayMakers Presents PETER AND THE STARCATCHER This Winter

This holiday season, PlayMakers Repertory Company, the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will fly audiences to Neverland in "Peter and the Starcatcher," a Peter Pan prequel for the entire family. The show will run Nov. 18-Dec. 12, with special events associated with the production beginning Nov. 9.
