In a year of celebrating the achievements of women in country music, CMT today announced that Loretta Lynn will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award presented by Ram Trucks at this year's all-female “CMT Artists of the Year” event premiering live Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Academy Award winner and “Coal Miner's Daughter” actress Sissy Spacek will bestow the award to Lynn, who joins previous recipients of the honor including Shania Twain (2016), Kenny Rogers (2015), and Merle Haggard (2014).

The Country Music Association's critically acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank has announced a performance at The Novo in Los Angeles Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 PM featuring four-time CMA Awards-winning duo Florida Georgia Line alongside songwriters Corey Crowder, HARDY, and Tree Vibez Music special guests. The series hosts intimate performances with some of Country Music's most exciting songwriting talent taking turns telling the stories behind their hit songs and performing them as originally written. The Country Music Association visited Houston yesterday, Monday, Sept. 17, with Josh Kerr, Maddie & Tae and Jon Nite, joining the CMA Foundation to meet with students at Waltrip High School followed by a CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank performance at The Heights Theater. Monday afternoon, the songwriters visited Waltrip High School in the Houston Independent School District (HISD), participating in two band classes and a Q&A session, in addition to being treated to special performances by the students in each class.

Schimmel Center presents all-female alt-country group Farewell Angelina-named one of Rolling Stone's Fall 2016 '10 New Country Artists You Need To Know'- on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. The concert features a special performance-Farewell Angelina's debut of 'I Feel You,' written by Kevin Bacon, and performed together with Michael Bacon, Paul Guzzone, and Frank Vilardi of The Bacon Brothers. 'I Feel You' is the bonus track of Farewell Angelina's new EP, set to be released in 2019, and the concert also offers a sneak peek of other songs set to be on the album. The evening is hosted by Paul Guzzone.
The Peace Center announces Peace Voices Songwriters, a new extension of the Peace Voices program. Spearheaded by Greenville's Edwin McCain and songwriter Maia Sharp, the program features a concert series with guest singer-songwriters. It also offers a workshop series for aspiring songwriters, which will culminate in a recorded song.
