Previews for the New York premiere of Latin History for Morons begin tonight, February 24, at The Public Theater.

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center, located at The Graduate Center, CUNY, announces its Spring 2017 season of free public programs. The season features free public programs, welcoming and celebrating contemporary theatre and performing artists from around the world.

The Actors' Gang's new musical production of Harlequino: On to Freedom will have its U.S. Premiere in March, as part of the theater's 2017 Spring Season of Justice. Written and directed by Tim Robbins, the new musical combines Commedia dell'Arte, Shakespearean tragedy, live music and sophisticated comedy to produce a dialectic on the meaning of freedom.  The musical had its European Premiere at the Spoleto Festival, in Italy, and it subsequently toured to Shanghai and Beijing where it was censored by government officials.  Harlequino: On to Freedom begins previews Thursday, March 16, opens onSaturday, March 18 and runs through May 6, 2017, at The Actors' Gang Theatre, in Culver City.

(Arlington, MA) and Michael Seiden, ALBATROSS begins performances on Thursday, January 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 12. Press opening is tonight, January 19 at 7:15 PM.

Revolving around a real political figure, Gianni Agnelli, this fictional plot mixes satire with a strong political message. When wealthy Agnelli is injured in a failed kidnap attempt, he is rescued by humble Antonio, one of his employees. Antonio flees the scene when people start shooting at him, leaving his jacket on Agnelli's body. The rich and influential Agnelli is taken to hospital in Antonio's jacket, where he mistakenly has his face reconstructed in the poor Antonio's likeness. Chaotic confusion ensues as Antonio finds himself the chief suspect in a kidnap plot - against himself!

Red Tape Theatre will produce the Midwest premiere of A HEDDA GABLER, adapted and with translations by Chicago-based playwright Nigel O'Hearn and directed by Artistic Director Max Truax.

On Monday, December 12, for one night only, La MaMa will present 'An Italian Miracle,' an evening of a performance, panel discussion and film screening, to introduce New York to 'The Integrated Theatre of Emotion,' a university-level program for mentally disabled people that has been established by Italian actor/director Dario D'Ambrosi. 

Italian playwright, director and performer Dario Fo passed away today in Milan, Italy. He was 90. The news was confirmed by his Italian publisher, Chiarelettere.
