Photo Flash: Queens Shakespeare & What Dreams May Co. Present A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

Director Jonathan Emerson's modern fairytale design borrows from both Western and Eastern oral storytelling traditions to transport audiences alongside our young lovers (and everyone's favorite Athenian community theater troupe), to a dark fantasy forest. The mortal and the faery worlds collide in the twilight realm as Oberon and Titania fight, the dazzle of their Faeries sparkle bright, and one and all are spellbound by the shenanigans of a certain merry wanderer of the night. Join us as we explore the ways in which an epic story can remind us of where we've come from, teach us, and sometimes ultimately…save us.

BWW Review: Tony Yazbeck, Robyn Hurder Bring a Thrilling Dynamic To New York City Center's A CHORUS LINE

The lack of permanence that allows new artists endless chances to bring their own interpretations to classic material is the most significant aspect that separates live theatre from movies and television. But in musical theatre, it's sometimes the case that a director/choreographer such as Jerome Robbins or Bob Fosse may create visuals that become so indelible in the public's mind that they become fixtures of most remountings. In the case of A CHORUS LINE, it's the whole show.

This week, we are in residence at an unlikely setting for a theatre performance: Rossmore Leisure Centre in Poole.  On Friday night, after the sports centre has closed, 60 people will be invited to experience Take On Me - our 1980s-set promenade performance that journeys through the changing rooms, the gym, an aerobics class and the pool. Over the next few months, we'll do the same thing in five more leisure centres across the country as we create a new company in each location.

The trio - singer/bassist Aoife Power, guitarist Niall Burns, and drummer Andrew Flood - make some of alternative music's most compelling new sounds; a soaring, stunning, but still singalong take on musical anthemia, that fuses the storyteller's nature of their home country of Ireland with the effortless cool of the London scene they now call home.

Photo Flash: First Look at MIRABEL at Ovalhouse

Chris Goode's new solo storytelling show is a sad and strange fairytale for adults about what happens when you refuse to accept that you're lost. Mirabel is tender, hallucinatory and disturbing story that follows a lone child through a desolate landscape after the end of the world, conjured by Chris's distinctive lyrical style with a richly immersive visual and sound design. Combining the bedtime-story charm of his The Adventures of Wound Man and Shirley with the harsh and uncompromising edge of Men in the Cities, Mirabel is a fable about present day anxieties surrounding climate breakdown and the politics of nihilism.
