Chris Goode's Brand New MIRABEL Comes To Ovalhouse

Chris Goode's new solo storytelling show is a sad and strange fairytale for adults about what happens when you refuse to accept that you're lost. Mirabel is tender, hallucinatory and disturbing story that follows a lone child through a desolate landscape after the end of the world, conjured by Chris's distinctive lyrical style with a richly immersive visual and sound design. Combining the bedtime-story charm of his The Adventures of Wound Man and Shirley with the harsh and uncompromising edge of Men in the Cities, Mirabel is a fable about present day anxieties surrounding climate breakdown and the politics of nihilism.

BWW Review: Theater Uncorked Flies High With ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST

Theater Uncorked returned to the First Church Cambridge this past weekend for two performances of a staged reading of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, a 1963 play by Dale Wasserman, based on the novel of the same name by Ken Kesey. Lest the inmates run the asylum, the strong directorial hand of Bobbi Steinbach kept the chaos under control, presumably in a kinder, gentler way than Nurse Ratched's managerial style. Her staging made it feel like so much more than a reading, especially in the group scenes, where the bonding and banter among the patients rang true. There was nary a weak link in the ensemble, and the leading players were so strong in their characterizations that my mind drew a blank when trying to imagine anyone else as Ratched (Kerry A. Dowling), Randle P. McMurphy (Gene Dante), or Chief Bromden (Pedro Figueroa).

Lin-Manuel Miranda Joins Utkarsh Ambudkar On RUFIO, Video Premires on Rolling Stone

Following the drop of his single “Vanity”, Utkarsh Ambudkar releases his animated music video for “Rufio”. The track is an epic collaboration with Lin- Manuel Miranda, Dante Basco (yes, Rufio from Hook!), and The Olympicks, and the video is directed by Tayen Kim. “Rufio” shines a light on being an outcast, race, the first generation immigrant experience, politics, Hollywood and more with his raw and melodic hip-hop sound.

Mourning [A] BLKstar Announces New Album THE GARNER POEMS

Creating songs of both eulogy and revolution, the expansion of 21st century black consciousness is felt in waves through Ohio's Mourning [A] BLKstar. A force that has deep conviction, purpose, and weight, songs are voiced through a lens of chopped up drum grooves, stark melodies, washed-out synth tones, and historic sample pulls.
