The Cleveland Orchestra announces a three-concert At the Movies series for the 2017-18 season. Following the popularity of film screenings with live music during the past six seasons, the Orchestra continues the tradition with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, North by Northwest Live, and DISNEY IN CONCERT: Tim Burton's The Nightmare before Christmas. All three movies will be projected on a giant screen above the Severance Hall stage, with music performed live. Los Angeles' reigning Pumpkin King, Danny Elfman, will return to the Hollywood Bowl today, October 29 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, October 30 at 6:30 pm performing his role of Jack Skellington singing live to film for a very special screening of Disney's timeless holiday classic, 'TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.'
The Michigan Philharmonic performed its annual Phright Night concert last Saturday at the PARC in Plymouth; as always, it was a huge success. The symphony harvested some scary tunes at its beloved Halloween POPS concert. Maestro Nan Washburn entered the building on her motorized scooter, drawing thunderous applause from patrons. She opened the concert using a large wooden spoon as her conductor's baton, then quickly switched it out with a professional one. The selections were wonderful, and very much a treat for the ears.
Sony Classical proudly announces the release of The Girl On The Train (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), featuring the music by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be available October 7. The movie will arrive in theatres the same day.
