The 52nd Street Project makes a difference in the lives of countless Hell's Kitchen (Clinton) kids by pairing them with theater professionals who mentor them through the creation of original theater. Perhaps the most poignant presentations made by the Project are those in its semi-annual Playmaking series, which features the Project's youngest Hell's Kitchen menses - 9- and 10-year-olds who have just begun their theatrical education - writing for accomplished professional actors and revealing their work to a public audience for the first time.

Running May 17-20 at 7pm, The Realm will present staged readings of new work by 2015-16 Writing Fellows Sam Chanse, Lauren Feldman, Jonathan Payne, and David Zax. INK'D exemplifies The Realm's ever-expanding commitment to providing holistic support to playwrights as they strive to make a life in the arts.
The Fire This Time Festival Sets Inaugural Writers Group

For its seventh season the Obie Award winning The Fire This Time Festival has expanded to include an inaugural Writer's Group, which was created to help playwrights of African and African American descent develop new work during bi-monthly sessions over four months beginning in October, which will culminate in a public presentation of new works during the annual festival, January 18-Febraury 6, 2016 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). The Fire This Time Festival Writer's Group, co-moderated by Cynthia G. Robinson (Nightfall in Season 4 of TFTT) and A.J. Muhammad (Assistant Producer of TFTT), aims to foster a nurturing, supportive and collaborative environment where playwrights can share work with their peers and receive constructive feedback during the early stages of developing a new project.

Shrunken Shakespeare Company presented the world premiere reading of Chukwudi Iwuji's masterpiece screenplay IRA on June 8th, 2015. The reading was the centerpiece of the SSC 2015 Spring Gala and was directed by Danya Taymor. The Creative Producer was Adam Shulman (Dukes of Hazard: The Beginning, Song One starring Anne Hathaway), host of SSC's Annual Benefit Gala and Staged Reading of at W83 (150 West 83rd Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus). Brewer joins new cast member Eli Gelb (The Squid and the Whale, Holy Rollers).
