LBJ Returns to ZACH THEATRE in the Texas Premiere of THE GREAT SOCIETY

ZACH Theatre is proud to announce the newest addition to its 2016-17 Season -The Texas Premiere of THE GREAT SOCIETY, the second of Robert Schenkkan's LBJ plays exploring Texas' own political mastermind and his memorable years in the White House. The Great Society plays the Topfer Theatre January 25 - March 5, 2017 directed by Dave Steakley, ZACH Theatre's Producing Artistic Director.

Jack Willis to Lead Arena Stage's ALL THE WAY

Robert Schenkkan's Tony Award-winning drama All the Way, about President Lyndon Baines Johnson's impassioned struggle to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964, makes its Washington, D.C. debut at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Kyle Donnelly, who has directed more than 20 productions at Arena Stage, returns to helm this "sure-fire, action packed hit" (Huffington Post) about a country still reeling from the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the man tasked with calming the storm. Hailed as a "sensational night of theater" (NPR), All the Way runs April 1-May 8, 2016 in the Fichandler Stage.

Steve Vinovich to Star as LBJ in Texas Premiere of ALL THE WAY at ZACH Theatre This Spring

ZACH Theatre announces the full cast for the upcoming Texas Premiere of 2014 Tony Award - winning play All The Way by Robert Schenkkan, based on Lyndon Baines Johnson's first year as President of the United States. ZACH Theatre Producing Artistic Director DAVE STEAKLEY will direct at the Topfer Theatre on the Karen Kuykendall stage April 8 - May 10, 2015. Noted Broadway, film, and television actor STEVE VINOVICH will star as President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Mr. Vinovich performed the role of Rep. Emanuel Cellar in the Broadway production of All The Way and was the understudy to Bryan Cranston as LBJ.

THE DARRELL HAMMOND PROJECT, Written by SNL Alum, Makes World Premiere Tonight at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse presents The Darrell Hammond Project, written by Saturday Night Live star Darrell Hammond and Elizabeth Stein, and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. Performed by Hammond, this world-premiere, one-man show will runs now through March 8, 2015 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The production opens tonight, February 8, 2015.

Vadym Kholodenko Makes Meany Hall Debut Tonight

In June 2013, Vadym Kholodenko became the recipient of the Gold Medal at the Fourteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Since then it has been a busy and exciting time for the young Ukranian pianist with extensive touring throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA to great critical acclaim. His recent debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra led to Daniel Webster of The Philadelphia Inquirer praising Kholodenko's 'absorbing melodic shadings, glittering passage work, and a sense of sound that erased any fears about the stereotype of the competition winner.'

Opera Paralléle Premieres MY HEAD IS FULL OF COLORS as Part of National Opera Week Today

San Francisco, CA, September 30, 2014 – Continuing its trailblazing tradition of presenting new and less familiar works of music theatre, Opera Parallèle will give the world premiere of an opera based on author Catherine Friend's beloved children's book, My Head is Full of Colors, today, November 1, at 11 am in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street. Written by Santa Cruz composer Chris Pratorius with libretto by Opera Parallèle Artistic Director Nicole Paiement, the work is the first commission premiered by the Company and is being performed during National Opera Week (October 24—November 2). The production will feature 4th grade students from Creative Arts Charter Schoolperforming with soprano Carolyn Bacon and baritone Sergey Khalikulov. Laura Anderson is the stage director, costumes are designed by Elly Jessop; the singers and small instrumental ensemble will be conducted by OP Intern Conductor William Long.

The UW World Series brings Seattle audiences some of the most exciting artists and companies from around the globe. The tradition continues into the 2014-15 season with a stellar line-up of living masters and emerging talents curated by Artistic Director Michelle Witt in her third year of programming the Series. 23 artists and companies from over 21 countries will be represented, including Israel, Mali, Ukraine, Great Britain, Spain, France, Canada, Russia, Hungary, the USA, and the eleven countries that make up the Nile basin.

Parson's Nose Theater, led by Producing Artistic Director, Lance Davis, presents its 14th Season of classical adaptations beginning tonight, September 28th with The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, followed by Classics that go Bump in the Night with works by Poe, Benet, and Jackson, The Middle Class Nobleman by Moliere, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, As You Were: Stories for American GI's in WWII by Twain, Dana, Parker and Whitman, The Algonquin Round Table by Parker, Benchley, Thurber, and Friends, The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, and concludes with Little Sophie's Misfortunes: A Cautionary Tale by Comtesse de Segur.

Parson's Nose Theater to Continue Season with CLASSICS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT, 10/12-13

Parson's Nose Theater (PNT), the acclaimed classical comedic theater company led by Artistic Director, Lance Davis, continues its 14th Season with "Classics that go Bump in the Night", including Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado", Stephen Vincent Benet's "The Devil and Daniel Webster", and Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery", opening Saturday, October 12th.
