Off-Broadway's VANITIES Will Recieve An Original Cast Recording

New musical VANITIES will receive an original cast album. The three-woman cast of the show, which recently performed its New York premiere Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre, is in the studio today recording the album for Sh-K-Boom Records.

Playwrights Horizons Presents THE RETRIBUTIONISTS 8/21 Through 9/27, Opens 9/15

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) kicks off its 2009/2010 Season with the World Premiere of THE RETRIBUTIONISTS, a new play by Daniel Goldfarb (Modern Orthodox, Adam Baum and the Jew Movie). The production will begin previews on Friday, August 21 with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 15 at 7PM. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, September 27 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

MISS MARGARIDA'S WAY Comes To Baystreet At The Parrish Art Museum 8/19-8/22, 8/26-29

What do you get when you have an unruly classroom and a teacher on the edge? Miss Margarida's Way explores the balance of power in Bay Street's next production at Baystreet@The Parrish Art Museum. Featuring café-style seating for a 99-seat audience, this new second space allows Bay Street to present works in development for their Workshop Series, sponsored in part by the Lucille Lortel Foundation.

Playwrights Horizons Now Accepting LIVEforFIVE Ticket Lottery Entries For THE RETRIBUTIONISTS

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) is now accepting entries for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to its next production, the World Premiere of THE RETRIBUTIONISTS, a new play by Daniel Goldfarb (Modern Orthodox, Adam Baum and the Jew Movie, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me). At least 50 tickets will be available via the online lottery.

VANITIES Plays Last Performance At Second Stage Theatre August 9

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) will conclude its 30th Anniversary mainstage season with the New York premiere of VANITIES, a new musical written by Jack Heifner, featuring music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by Judith Ivey. With musical staging by Dan Knechtges, VANITIES will feature Lauren Kennedy, Sarah Stiles, and Anneliese van der Pol and will begin preview performances on Thursday, July 2. Opening night is Thursday, July 16 at 6:30pm

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) and 92YTribeca have announced that they will present 'NEW PLAYS, TOUGH TIMES' at 92YTribeca (200 Hudson Street) on Thursday evening, September 10 at 7:30 PM. Moderated by Time Out New York's Theater editor and chief drama critic David Cote, the panel discussion will feature all eight writers from Playwrights Horizons' upcoming 2009/2010 Season.

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, announces complete casting, as well as dates, for the first two productions of its upcoming 2009/2010 Season. Presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street, the previously-announced productions will feature the following casts:

Signature Theatre Announces 3 New Musical Commissions & 2 Awards; Recipients Include Guettel, Foley, Michelson, Miller & Richards

Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director of the Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, today announced that Signature Theatre is expanding its American Musical Voices Project (AMVP) for a fourth year with the commission and production of a new musical by Adam Guettel for its 2011-2012 season. Also announced as part of The Next Generation segment of the AMVP were two additional musical commissions awarded to Peter Foley and Marisa Michelson as well as honoree grants given to Chris Miller and Scott Davenport Richards for the development of future musical ideas. Signature, with the support of The Shen Family Foundation, has awarded $595,000 to artists in honors and commissions in the past three years. The American Musical Voices Project is the largest single musical theater commissioning and producing initiative at any non-profit theater in America.
