Mike Leigh's iconic class comedy, Abigail's Party, has arrived at Nuffield Southampton Theatres on its UK tour.

Beverly and husband Laurence are throwing a party for their newlywed neighbours, Tony and Angela. Joining them is highly strung Susan who's been banished from the party of her teenage daughter Abigail. Welcome to 1970's suburbia and its heady mix of free-flowing cocktails, classic disco and cheese and pineapple sticks. As tensions rise and tempers flare the sheen of respectability is torn away by the warring couples with hilarious and potentially disastrous consequences.

Those who have attended an excruciatingly awkward cocktail party will revel in this production of Abigail's Party by Mike Leigh.

Jodie Prenger leads the cast in Abigail's Party, Mike Leigh's groundbreaking comedy classic which begins a major UK tour in Brighton on 10 January 2019 and tours until 20 April 2019 in Edinburgh.

From tomorrow evening, Tuesday 2 October, the Theatre Royal sees Tom Conti and Jenny Seagrove star in Brief Encounter On Air, the live staged radio play version of the movie classic, alongside Sue Holderness, Roy Marsden, Daniel Casey and Verity Rushworth.

Full cast and crew have been announced for City Lit's world premiere translation of Aeschylus's theatrically boldest tragedy, PROMETHEUS BOUND, which will begin previews April 27, 2018 and open to the press on Sunday, May 6. This new translation was commissioned by City Lit from Nicholas Rudall, Founding Artistic Director of Court Theater and internationally acclaimed award-winning translator of Greek drama.
