City Theatre is pleased to announce six Young Playwrights Contest winners who will develop their scripts in collaboration with professional theatre artists-a director, dramaturgs, and actors-for productions in City Theatre's Hamburg Studio during the 15th annual Young Playwrights Festival, today, September 30 - October 10, 2014.

Primary Stages in association with Susan Dietz (Fela!, Mothers and Sons), presents the world premiere of While I Yet Live by the Tony-winning star of Kinky Boots and Angels in America, Billy Porter, and directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons, Next Fall, Adrift in Macao). While I Yet Live plays a limited, six-week engagement, tonight, September 24, through October 31 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street - a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 West 42nd Street). Opening night is Sunday, October 12 at 5PM.

Primary Stages has announced that the world premiere of While I Yet Live will begin performances on Wednesday, September 24 at 7PM. Producers have decided to delay the start of previews due to technical issues.

City Theatre kicks off its 40th anniversary season with a 2014 Tony Award "Best Play" nominee. OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Tracy Brigden, will run on City Theatre's Mainstage October 11 - November 2, 2014.

For his first directing project since winning the 2014 Tony Award, Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak will helm Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet, playing only four weeks, from October 16 to November 16, at Hartford Stage. Hamlet follows three popular Shakespearean productions in the last two years by Tresnjak: The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and last season's Macbeth.

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced that playwright Kimber Lee will be the 2014-15 Aetna New Voices Fellow at Hartford Stage.

A Raisin in the Sun's Kenny Leon has won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play. Kenny Leon's Broadway credits include August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean (five Tony nominations) and the Tony Award-winning revival of A Raisin in the Sun, both featuring Phylicia Rashad; for the latter, he earned a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Director of a Play. Other directing credits include the Off-Broadway hit Emergence-See featuring Daniel Beaty, Blues for an Alabama Sky, and From the Mississippi Delta (Huntington Theatre).

This year's selection features three of City's favorite alums as well as a distinguished playwright new to Pittsburgh audiences. The play's themes run the gamut from technology and football to history and community. MOMENTUM is a celebration of new theatrical works featuring readings, workshops, panels, and conversation. The festival is a chance for audiences to not only see four new works in their earliest incarnations, but also to get to know the process of creating new plays and to glimpse inside the minds of the playwrights.

'The Tallest Tree in the Forest', A Play with Music written and performed by Daniel Beaty, is being directed by Moises Kaufman in its World Premiere production at Center Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum at the Music Center in Los Angeles. The show opened on Saturday, April 19 and runs until May 25.

Lincoln Center Theater presents an LCT3 Special Event - Freestyle Love Supreme, the popular live improvised show, will return for an encore engagement at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65th Street). Freestyle Love Supreme will play 4 performances only, tonight, May 1st and tomorrow, May 2nd at 7pm and 9pm.
