The Hollywood Reporter writes that Mamie Gummer will star opposite Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming film CAKE, directed by Daniel Barnz from a script by Patrick Tobin.

In CAKE, Aniston will play 'a woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of a woman in her chronic pain support group.'

Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that Rhode Island's own Academy Award-nominated actress, Viola Davis, would be honored with the 2012 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 16th annual Pell Awards. Theater educator Elaine Foster Perry will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts, Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons will receive the Pell Award For Leadership in Arts Education, and J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center and Professional Facilities Management, will be honored as the recipient of the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. All awardees are past or current Rhode Islanders.

CBS Films has announced that it will delay its new Beauty and the Beast remake, BEASTLY. The Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer film will now be released on March 18, 2011.

Carla Gugino has signed on to the revenge thriller 'Faster,' a co-production of CBS Films and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. 2009 Tony Award host Neil Patrick Harris will appear in two upcoming films; 'Beastly' and 'The Best and the Brightest' according to the Hollywood Reporter. Harris will film the two pictures during the summer hiatus from his CBS comedy 'How I Met Your Mother'.

Vanessa Hudgens has been cast in 'Beastly,' a modern-day take on Beauty and the Beast, according to Entertainment Tonight. Hudgens will, of course, be playing the 'Beauty' in the film. British actor Alex Pettyfer ('Wild Child,' Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker') is reportedly in talks to star as the 'Beast' in the film, which is currently scheduled to begin shooting this summer. The film is directed by Daniel Barnz and produced by Susan Cartsonis in association with CBS Films.
