Vienna Philharmonic to Release SUMMER NIGHT Concert on CD, DVD & More, 9/30

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (July 25, 2016)—Conducted by Semyon Bychkov in May 2016, the 13th annual Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn will be released on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital platforms by Sony Classical on August 12 and broadcast on PBS's Great Performances on Friday, September 30 at 9 p.m. (check local listings.). The Summer Night Concerts are presented free each year in the gardens of Vienna's Imperial Schönbrunn Palace, and Mr. Bychkov—conducting the event for the first time—led the Vienna Philharmonic in front of its largest Summer Night Concert audience ever (102,000 spectators). The performance reached an additional 585,000 people through TV and radio, having been broadcast by 83 stations on five continents.

Nadine Sierra Opens Mostly Mozart (July 25) and Paris Opera Seasons

On the heels of her Tanglewood debut in Carmina Burana with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, fast-rising soprano Nadine Sierra—who, after four major debuts last season alone, is quickly becoming a fixture at important houses around the world—returns to New York to debut at Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival on July 25, in an all-star opening night “operatic fantasy” called The Illuminated Heart. After an auspicious debut as Gilda at the Met last season, she returns this fall for a house role debut as Zerlina inDon Giovanni, and in the spring makes both her role and Live in HD debuts as Ilia in Mozart's Idomeneo under the baton of James Levine. Following last season's Paris Opera debut, she opens the 2016-17 season at the Palais Garnier with the role of Flavia in a new production of Cavalli's Eliogabalo. This is one of three Paris Opera productions to feature her this season: she also appears as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Gilda inRigoletto at the Opéra Bastille, where she sang her first Zerlina last season. Other highlights in the new season include a return to Zurich Opera—where she won acclaim for her 2015 house and role debuts as the title character in Lucia di Lammermoor—to sing her first performances as Elvira in Bellini's I Puritani.

Pianist Shai Wosner Announces Upcoming Recording Featuring Danish National Symphony

Pianist Shai Wosner's eclectic new recording pairs concertos and solo pieces by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and György Ligeti (1923-2006), exploring their quirky humor and other connections across centuries. Performing with conductor Nicholas Collon and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Wosner plays Haydn's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G, Haydn's Piano Concerto No. 11 in D, and Ligeti's Piano Concerto, one of the most challenging piano works of the late 20th century.  The concertos are interspersed with solo works including Haydn's Capriccio (Fantasia) in C, Haydn's Capriccio in G, “Acht Sauschnider mussen sein” (It takes eight to castrate a boar), and Ligeti's rarely heard Capriccios Nos. 1 and 2. The recording will be available from iTunes, Amazon.com and other music retailers on Friday, May 20 in the U.K. and Friday, June 3 in the U.S.

Pianist Yuja Wang's Carnegie Hall Concert to be Broadcast Online, 5/14

Acclaimed pianist Yuja Wang, whose annual Carnegie Hall recital has quickly become one of the premier events of the New York concert season, performs on Saturday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. for an audience in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, plus many more people around the world through a simultaneous live radio broadcast on WQXR 105.9 FM and online at wqxr.org, and webcast on medici.tv.

Utah Symphony and Music Director Thierry Fischer Release New Album DAWN TO DUST Today

The recording, a hybrid SACD is out today, Friday, April 8, 2016, is the second in an ongoing series by Music Director Thierry Fischer and the Utah Symphony for Reference Recordings. It follows the release of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 'Titan,' recorded live by the Utah Symphony and Mr. Fischer, issued in September 2015. DAWN TO DUST will be available from iTunes, Amazon.com, and other music retailers.

Jazz Vocalist Dianne Reeves Returning to Carnegie Hall, 3/30

On Wednesday, March 30 at 8:00 p.m., critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves returns to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, performing alongside longtime collaborators Peter Martin (piano), Romero Lubambo (guitar), Reginald Veal (bass), and Terreon Gully (drums). Reeves's most recent appearances at Carnegie Hall include participating in the 2011 gala created by James Taylor to celebrate the Hall's 120th anniversary, and her own sold out headline performance in 2013.

Harris Theater President to Exit at End of Year

? Alexandra Nichols, Board Chair of the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, announced today that Michael Tiknis, President of the Harris Theater, will step down from his position at the end of December 2016.  After 12 years of exceptional service, Mr. Tiknis, along with the Board of Trustees, will implement a succession plan for the next historic phase of the Harris Theater's future.

Tony Winner Kelli O'Hara to Make Solo Carnegie Hall Debut During 2016-17 Season; Full Lineup Set!

Carnegie Hall today unveiled its 2016-2017 season consisting of more than 170 concerts as well as wide-ranging education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. The upcoming season includes performances by many of the world's greatest artists, including Tony winner Kelli O'Hara making her solo headlining debut at the renowned venue on Oct. 29, as well as ensembles representing classical, pop, jazz, and world music, with events presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages, in the Hall's Resnick Education Wing, and throughout New York City.

Rosanne Cash to Conclude Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series, 2/20

Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash concludes her Carnegie Hall Perspectives series with a performance on Saturday, February 20 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, featuring songs from her Grammy-Awarding winning album The River & The Thread. The record, a collaboration with her partner, producer, and co-writer John Leventhal, musically, narratively, spiritually, and geographically explores the American South. For the second half of the program, Cash is joined by acclaimed musician Jeff Tweedy--founding member and leader of the American rock band Wilco--to perform songs from her storied musical catalogue with an emphasis on songs from her critically acclaimed 2009 album The List.
