ESSENCE Announces Honorees For Its 2018 Black Women In Hollywood Awards Luncheon

ESSENCE, the preeminent brand for African-American women, has announced the honorees for its prestigious “Black Women in Hollywood Awards.” The highly anticipated annual Oscar-week celebration—which returns as a daytime luncheon—will be held on Thursday, March 1st, at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, CA.

Primary Stages Announces 'Saturday Night Strings' Post-Performance Concert Series

PRIMARY STAGES (Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Shane D. Hudson, Executive Director; Casey Childs, Founder) announced today Saturday Night Strings, a special post-show concert series following select Saturday night performances of A WALK WITH MR. HEIFETZ, written by James Inverne and directed by Andrew Leynse. All ticketholders for the evenings of Saturday, February 10 (Mariella Haubs); Saturday, February 17 (Edward W. Hardy of Sterling Strings); and Saturday, February 24 (Luisa Bastidas) are invited to remain after the performance to enjoy live music performed by special guest violinists. The concerts are free for all ticketholders for that evening's performance.

Day 2 at the MACRO Lodge presented by Shea Moisture went out with a bang! Mistaken multiple times for TAO by passersby due to the overwhelming crowd waiting to get in, Midnight MACRO hosted by Charles and Stacey King, at the MACRO Lodge on Main St was Saturday night's best party. The overcapacity event brought in not only the cast of MACRO's Sorry to Bother You (Tessa Thompson, Lakeith Stanfield, Steven Yeun, Director Boots Riley) which had its Sundance premiere earlier in the evening, but also saw a number of the festival's other attendees including Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, Omari Hardwick, Anthony Ramos (She's Gotta Have It), Coleman Domingo, Lena Waithe, Danai Gurira, John Legend, Issa Rae and Insecure co-star Jay Ellis, Gabby Sidobe, and Chris Hardwick.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN, HEAD OVER HEELS. and More to Be Part of Curran Theater's Inaugural Season

At a live event on stage at the Curran this evening, Carole Shorenstein Hays announced the entire inaugural season of her newly reopened and reconceived Curran Theater. #Curran2018, as the season is dubbed, will include the Tony Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, as well as three bold new works: Soft Power, Taylor Mac's Holiday Sauce, and the pre-Broadway engagement of Head Over Heels. In addition to these four anticipated productions, Curran's popular series of one-night-only events, Show & Tell, will continue with an allstar line-up. Season subscriptions are now on sale.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces the third production of its 2017-2018 season, Familiar. Written by Danai Gurira and directed by Theatre J artistic director Adam Immerwahr, Familiar will run from February 5 to March 4, 2018.
