Trinity Rep to Present 'Sensory-Friendly' Performance of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, 11/9

Trinity Rep proudly announces the addition of a sensory-friendly performance of Charles Dickens with their annual presentation of his classic tale of A Christmas Carol, as adapted by Adrian Hall and Richard Cumming, presented by Cardi's Furniture with supporting sponsor Amica Insurance. The sensory-friendly adaptation of the show will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 2:00PM and is sponsored by The Hearst Foundations. Catering to both adults and children with sensitivities, this modified show fits the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other cognitive and physical disabilities. Trinity Rep's A Christmas Carol is a timeless tale of forgiveness and hope that earns rave reviews from audiences and critics year after year. Tickets for this performance are on sale now and by phone at (401) 351-4242 and in person at the theater's box office. All seats for this performance are $22.

Students can experience all aspects of theater through a range of classes including Musical Theater Dance, Trinity Technicians and Playreading Aloud! Trinity Rep welcomes new teaching artist Jamie Arnold for Musical Theater Dance, and offers Playreading Aloud! for free. Trinity Repertory Company announces open enrollment for lifelong learning classes. The program is currently accepting registration, and fall classes begin as early as August 29. Committed to the belief in theater for every generation, the education department offers a wide array of performance classes for adults taught by the resident acting company and artistic staff. For those too shy to be on stage, the department offers a playwriting class and discussion series illuminating the artistic process. The annual fundraising event will be co-chaired by Joe & Michele Madden and Elizabeth 'Beppie' Huidekoper. Mrs. Nuala Pell will serve as the event's honorary chair.

Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that Rhode Island's own Academy Award-nominated actress, Viola Davis, would be honored with the 2012 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 16th annual Pell Awards. Theater educator Elaine Foster Perry will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts, Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons will receive the Pell Award For Leadership in Arts Education, and J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center and Professional Facilities Management, will be honored as the recipient of the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. All awardees are past or current Rhode Islanders.

Trinity Rep Now Enrolling For Young Actors Summer Institute

Trinity Rep's Education Department will once again provide students the opportunity to spend the summer exploring a world of creativity and theater under the instruction of Rhode Island's most knowledgeable theater professionals. Enrollment is now open for both the Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI), which offers classes for grades 5-12 and for YASI Jr., a week-long program for grades 1-4. The YASI class for grades 8-9 is at capacity, but interested students can be placed on a wait list. Additionally, spaces are still available for the Young Actors Studio and Lifelong Learning spring sessions, which include classes for grades 4-12, as well as selections for adult actors and theater enthusiasts.
