The Brimmer Street Theatre Company's Blueprint Series Now Accepting Submissions

The Brimmer Street Theatre Company's fifth annual Blueprint Series is now accepting submissions, with a deadline of Friday, January 11 to submit applications. The Blueprint program provides opportunities for playwrights to work with the BSTC ensemble, in collaboration with other artists, to develop new projects.

Keen Company Extends Lauren Molina & Jason Tam-Led MARRY ME A LITTLE Through 10/27

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Jonathan Silverstein, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) today announced that Marry Me A Little, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, starring Lauren Molina and Jason Tam, will extend for one additional week to accommodate unprecedented demand. Marry Me A Little kicks off their 2012 - '13 season and will be followed by a newly revised version of the 1991 play, The Old Boy by A.R. Gurney. Performances will continue through October 27th, with two additional Wednesday matinees on October 17th and 24th.

Keen Company Announces Appointment of Jonathan Silverstein as New Artistic Director

The Board of Directors of the Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company today announced the appointment of Jonathan Silverstein as Artistic Director. Mr. Silverstein succeeds Carl Forsman, founder and Artistic Director, who has been named Dean of Drama at UNC School of the Arts, beginning July 1st.

John Cunningham Joins Cast of PAINTING CHURCHES

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Carl Forsman, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) today announced that John Cunningham would join Kathleen Chalfant and Kate Turnbull for Tina Howe's Painting Churches, the 1983 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman directs. Mr. Cunningham replaces the previously announced Richard Easton, who had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict. Performances will begin February 14, with Opening Night set for March 6.

National Asian American Theater Festival Announces Expansion

The 3rd National Asian American Theater Festival has partnered with two more organizations, including their productions in the 11-day festival. These partner productions include Grove Theater Center's A Book By its Cover by Damon Chua (June 24 - July 23) and Kollaboration's Acoustic 5 (June 17).

Theatricum Botanicum Presents BACKYARD FRUIT, 11/20-21

Theatricum's play development program, Botanicum Seedlings, continues to foster its relationship with local playwrights by producing its first ever festival of new short plays. The Fall (short) Playreading Festival features the works of emerging and award-winning writers based in the L.A. area, all of whom have been involved with Seedlings. A harvest of eight short plays based on the theme 'backyard fruit,' along with gourmet seasonal refreshments, The Fall (short) Playreading Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 20 & 21, at 2 pm. Admission is Free; donations gratefully accepted.
