A celebrated list of industry elite will gather to honor one of Hollywood's greatest cheerleaders - Dale Olson. The Actors Fund and The Hollywood Museum (formerly The Max Factor Museum), will host a memorial for one of the entertainment industry's greatest publicists and industry insiders, who passed in early August. A lobby exhibit will be designed to highlight the remarkable career of the man who many have referred to as the guardian of the Golden Era of Hollywood.

Hollywood Publicist Dale Olson Passes Away at 78

Dale Olson, One of the entertainment industry's greatest Publicists passed away this morning, August 9, 2012, at the Burbank Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer. He was 78.

'Next stop, Carmel CA,' announced Betty Buckley as she wrapped a truly spectacular cabaret concert entitled 'AH MEN! The Boys of Broadway' in the historic lobby of the Pantages Theatre. The sold out benefit for The Actors Fund featured 'Many of my favorite songs that I would otherwise never be able to sing on Broadway ... because they were written for men.' Arrangements that included 'I Can See,' 'My Defenses Are Down,' and both the 'Jet Song' and 'Maria' from WESTSIDE STORY, as well as 'Luck Be A Lady,' 'Hey There,' 'Come Back to Me,' and a SWEENY TODD medley. Ms. Buckley introduced a new arrangement that received with wild enthusiasm from the patrons, entitled 'A Hymn to Her' and dedicated to the question, 'Why can't women play famous Broadway roles written for men?' Among the men Buckley credited with influencing her most were the brilliant Russ Tamblyn, the graceful Fred Astaire and the very sexy Gene Kelly. Among those in attendance were colleagues and friends such as Ruta Lee, Alley Mills, Orson Bean, Juliet Mills, Maxwell Caulfield, and fellow TV Mom Marion Ross, among other industry notables like Tony Hoover (Hollywood Red-Line Tours owner), B. Harlan Boll (Publicist/Author/Producer), Patricia Kelly (wife of the late Gene Kelly) and the evening's producers John Bowab and Martin Wiviott.

Variety has reported that writer Ray Bradbury has signed a deal with White Oaks Films to develop a new miniseries entitled 'The Bradbury Chronicles,' based on six of Bradbury's short stories of his choosing.

Susanna Foster, Singer-Actress, Star of Rains' 'PHANTOM', Passes Away at 84

Susanna Foster, who starred opposite Claude Rains as 'Christine' in the 1943 version of 'Phantom of the Opera,' has passed away. She was 84. Foster died Saturday at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, N.J., publicist Dale Olson said. Foster made only a dozen movies but she was extremely popular in the early 1940s. A child prodigy, she got a contract with MGM at age 12 on the strength of her singing, then moved to Paramount, where at the age of 14 she made her movie debut in 1939's 'The Great Victor Herbert.' She moved to Universal, where she was 19 when she played the leading lady in 'Phantom' but she abruptly quit the film business in 1945 and a few years later married baritone Wilbur Evans. They divorced in 1956.

The Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA was transformed into an Old Hollywood 1920s Classic Themed Party, replete with breathtaking 20-foot-high Art Deco silver statues and other stunning decorative ornaments from the period, as guests attending the Hollywood Arts Council's Historic Sold-Out 30th Anniversary Black-Tie Gala and 22nd Annual Charlie Awards strolled down a 30-foot-long Red Carpet to a cozy and intimate Outdoor Courtyard Reception and Silent Auction, later followed by an elegant three-course catered Dinner and Awards Show, held on the Jim Henson Studios' Sound Stage on Saturday, March 29, 2008.
