DC Moore Gallery to Display JOYCE KOZLOFF: MAPS + PATTERNS Exhibit, 3/26

DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present Joyce Kozloff: Maps + Patterns. This exhibition of new mixed media work synthesizes Kozloff's interest in the meaning of maps with the forms of the Pattern and Decoration painting she pioneered in the 1970s. A catalogue featuring an interview with Kozloff accompanies the exhibition.

DC Moore Gallery Presents Robert Kushner's BAROUQUE

?DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present Robert Kushner: baroque. In this exhibition of new paintings, Kushner fuses plant forms with references to the global history of ornament to extend his exploration of the conceptual and political implications of the decorative. A catalogue with an essay by Faye Hirsch accompanies the exhibition.

Gallery of Robert De Niro Sr.'s Paintings and Drawings Opens Today

By the early 1950s, Robert De Niro, Sr. (1922-1993) had arrived at his boldly expressive mode of painting. Through strong color and reductive shapes, he merged aspects of abstraction and representation in figure paintings, still lifes, and landscapes. DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of his vibrant art, featuring paintings and drawings from 1948-1989. A catalogue with an essay by Robert Kushner will be available. It will also include an article on the artist by Eleanor Munro and photographs by Rudy Burckhardt that first appeared in ARTnews in May 1958. The opening reception will be today, June 6th from 5-7pm.

REMEMBERING THE ARTIST ROBERT DE NIRO, SR to Premiere 6/9 on HBO

In 1945, Robert De Niro, Sr.'s work was included in the Autumn Salon at Peggy Guggenheim's Art of This Century gallery along with that of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. The next year, he had his first solo exhibition at Guggenheim's gallery, an extremely prestigious honor for the young figurative painter. But while De Niro continued to show at the highly regarded Charles Egan Gallery throughout the 1950s, his career began to slip out of the critical spotlight, and he struggled for recognition in subsequent decades.

Profiles Theatre Extends COCK for Final Time Through June 29

Profiles Theatre announces the final extension for the Midwest premiere of Cock by Mike Bartlett, directed by Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox. The production opened February 20, 2014 and will extend for the second time through June 29, 2014. Cast members Torrey Hanson, Eleni Pappageorge, Jake Szczepaniak continue their roles with Nik Kourtis joining the cast. Performances are held at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.

Profiles Theatre Announces Extension for Midwest Premiere of COCK thru 5/25

Profiles Theatre announces an extension for their Midwest premiere of Cock by Mike Bartlett, directed by Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox. The production opened February 20, 2014 and will extend for an additional seven weeks through May 25, 2014. Original cast members Eleni Pappageorge, Christopher Sheard and Jake Szczepaniak continue their roles with Torrey Hanson joining the cast beginning April 10, 2014. Performances are held at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.

DC Moore Gallery Opens 'Romare Bearden: Insight & Innovation' Today

DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present Romare Bearden: Insight and Innovation, an exhibition that presents some of the finest examples of Bearden's work in collage, watercolor, and oil, highlighting his mastery of multiple artistic techniques and mediums. While probably best known for his powerful collages, Bearden also created modernist tempera paintings, lyrical abstractions, photographic enlargements that he called Projections, lush watercolors, and jazz and blues monotypes.

The production runs tonight, February 14 - April 6, 2014 at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway. The press opening is Thursday, February 20 at 8:00pm.

DC Moore Now Represents Valerie Jaudon

DC Moore has announced that they now represent Valerie Jaudon. A selection of her paintings from 2007-2013 will be on view in our project gallery from February 13 - March 15, 2014.
