Even though Beautiful may not be a perfect show, it's still a fun night out and a reminder that Carole King is as a part of the American songbook as is Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.

The Kennedy Center presents the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. The production makes its Washington, D.C. premiere at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for three weeks from tonight, October 6, through October 25, 2015 in the Kennedy Center Opera House.

A few years ago, her Elle in the national tour of Legally Blonde earned her a Helen Hayes nomination. Now, Becky Gulsvig is back in DC singing some more familiar tunes in BEAUTIFUL: The Carole King Musical.

The show, which is jam-packed with some of the most beloved hits of all time, including 'Proud Mary' (Ike & Tina), 'Somewhere Out There' (Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil), 'Seven Nation Army' (The White Stripes) and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' (as part of an Ashford & Simpson Medley), pays homage to the greatest married musical couples of the past century. "This is Dedicated: Music's Greatest Marriages" will play October 20 - October 24 at 54 Below (254 West 54th St).
