TNC's 99% REDUCED FAT, OR, YOU CAN BANK ON US Announces Time Change for 8/17 Show

Theater for the New City 's 2012 Street Theater tour, '99% 'Reduced Fat, or, You Can Bank On Us,' an operetta for the Street with book, lyrics and direction by Crystal Field and score by Joseph Vernon Banks, will now appear at 6:30 PM (instead of 8:00 PM) on Friday, August 17 at Coney Island Boardwalk (at West 10th Street), Brooklyn. The alteration was made in response to revised sound permit regulations.

Full Cast and Creative Announced for Stable Cable Lab Co.'s THE EDEN PROJECT, 8/24-9/1

Theater for the New City & Crystal Field (Artistic Director) have announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of THE EDEN PROJECT, a new play devised by Stable Cable Lab Co., directed by Seth Hamlin, and choreographed by KC Luce as part of the 3rd annual Dream Up Festival. THE EDEN PROJECT will begin performances on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Theater for the New City (155 First Ave. - between 10th & 11th Streets). The production is scheduled to run through September 1st.

A gang member learns to fight for his community and morphs into a civic leader in '99% 'Reduced Fat, or, You Can Bank On Us,' Theater for the New City's 36th annual Street Theater musical, which will tour City streets, parks and playgrounds throughout the five boroughs from August 4 to September 16 in free performances. It's the saga of a tough young man named B.C., known for stealing tires and bullying store owners, who falls for Suzy Freedom, a young and oh-so-innocent activist in Zuccotti Park. Guided by her dreams, he abandons hooliganism to become a community organizer. The production will have book, lyrics and direction by Crystal Field and musical score composed by Joseph Vernon Banks.

Broadway's ONCE Cast Member Lucas Papaelias Joins Theatre For The New City's 17th Annual Lower East Side (LES) Festival of The Arts, 5/25 - 5/27

Lucas Papaelias, of Broadway's ONCE is set to join the line up of the previously announced 17th annual LOWER EAST SIDE (LES) FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. Papaelias is also known as LPfunK and is an actor/guitarist/composer who was nominated for a Drama Desk Award (Best Original Music in a Play) for his work in Adam Rapp's "Essential Self-Defense" at Playwrights Horizons. Most recently, he co-wrote the rock musical PYRAMIDICA: Songs of Freedom, which takes place live in a pyramid scheme company's "free" orientation, and was presented at the Vineyard Arts Project's New Writers / New Plays Festival. He also conceived of, and composed, the rock opera ITHACA: a Perpetual Shredfest, the story of a Lower East Side rock band performing their final concert, which had presentations at Joe's Pub and ARS Nova.
