From August 28 to September 18, 2016 Theater for the New City (TNC), under the direction of Crystal Field, Artistic Director, will present its seventh Dream Up Festival, a feast of adventurous theater featuring new works from across the country and abroad. Helmed by the theater's Literary Manager, Michael Scott-Price, the festival offers 19 plays, all of which are world premieres or New York premieres.

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY - Circus goers typically marvel at the power and restrained grace of an elephant in the ring, taking on delicate poses unusual for such gigantic creatures. But the process by which that power is tamed can serve as a metaphor for the human condition.

Theater for the New City's award-winning Street Theater Company will open its 40th annual tour August 6 with 'Election Selection, or You Bet!,' a rip-roaring musical in which three everyday New Yorkers are galvanized into community activists. Free performances will tour City streets, parks and playgrounds throughout the five boroughs through September 18. Book, lyrics and direction are by Crystal Field; the musical score is composed and arranged by Joseph Vernon Banks. (Schedule follows at bottom of this document.)

The play begins previews today, June 1, and runs through June 19 at Theater for the New City's Cabaret Theater, 155 First Ave. in Manhattan.

The Wendy Osserman Dance Company celebrates its 40th Anniversary season this week, with four performances, featuring set designed by artiist Sanya Kantarovsky, running April 20 - 23, 2016 at 8 pm. Presented by the Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue), the season features two world premieres with live music by Skip La Plante and Harry Mann, and Osserman's Udjat (1985).
