Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, a resident theatre company now in its 9th season, will be presenting Everett Quinton in a staged reading of Charles Ludlam's "Medea" on Monday, March 18 at 8:00 PM at The Wild Project at 195 East 3rd Street.
In 1992, Crazy for You opened on Broadway and won the 1992 Tony Award for Best New Musical and ran for over 1600 performances before closing in 1996. Originally billed as 'a new Musical Comedy' by George and Ira Gershwin, the production is heavily based on Girl Crazy, a show written by the songwriting team back in 1930. Crazy for You will open at the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining on March 20.
The popular Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD will expand with more action, adventure and humor with the debut of two new animated series 'Marvel's Avengers Assemble,' which continues the exciting adventures of Marvel's most popular super heroes - Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon, and 'Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.,' which features the incredible Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb and Skaar; it was announced today by David Levine, Vice President and General Manager, Disney XD Worldwide and Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President & Head of Television, Marvel Entertainment. Kicking off the marvelous summer programming is a special one-hour preview of 'Marvel's Avengers Assemble' on SUNDAY, MAY 26, followed by the series premiere on SUNDAY, JULY 7. 'Marvel's Hulk and the Agents S.M.A.S.H.' premieres SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 (all at 11:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

In addition to THE PETTING ZOO, the 'First Stories Festival' will include productions of Tauris, The Trojan Women, Parados, a double bill of dance and music, and the Phoenix production of Electra.

In a landslide vote via the website, Facebook and on ballots distributed on site prior to each show during the month of February, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" beat out "Annie" and "Seussical the Musical."

Winning a Pulitzer Prize in 1988 and the Oscar for Best Picture in 1989, "Driving Miss Daisy" is opening at the Alhambra Theatre on February 5. Appropriate for a play of such esteem, the Alhambra has brought in not one, as has been its custom of late, but two stars to carry the show: four-time Emmy Award Winner, Michael Learned will star as Daisy Werthan and Lance Nichols, star of the HBO series TREME, as her chauffeur, Hoke Coleburn. This will be the fourth time Learned and Nichols will star together in "Driving Miss Daisy." Rounding out the three-person cast is Michael Edward Hodge, a New York actor who plays Daisy's son, Boolie Werthan.

The show features eight actors and a four-piece live band, bringing theatrical life to Cash's classic story songs. A true tribute to the man and his music, the show does not actually feature an actor playing Cash, who died in 2003, but it does chronicle his most-interesting life - from his debut at the Grand Ole Opry to Folsom County Prison and back to stardom. The show opened in 2006 at Broadway's Barrymore Theatre.

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining, announced this morning that its current show, 'Hank & My Honky Tonk Heroes' will be extending another week, to run through August 26 rather than August 19th. The show, which opened on July 24, has been steadily attracting bigger audiences. Smith wanted to accommodate the guests who weren't able to see the show during its scheduled run because of summer vacations and busy schedules.
