The 2013 New York International Fringe Festival's Producing Artistic Director Elena K. Holy announced this year's recipients of the festival's Overall Excellence Awards on August 25 at a ceremony held at the New York night club The Cutting Room. An independent panel of over 40 theater professionals selected the winners from among the festival's 185 entrants. Among those 185 shows was The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever produced by Maryland Ensemble Theatre's family theatre, The Fun Company. The Comedy Pigs, Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) hilarious improv troupe are returning for their 21st season with 22 performances including a shiny new sketch show. Since the Comedy Pigs debuted in 1993, they have performed over 500 shows including nationwide improv festivals, have been featured on Comedy Central and have been guests at the National Pork Producers Convention. The upcoming 21st season promises plenty of laughs with some new twists and audience favorites.
Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present Laugh Station: Flux as part of its MET-X series, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. Performances are July 26 & 27 at 9pm at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W Patrick St. Frederick) located in the historic FSK Hotel.
