Weekend movie box office estimates: August 5-7, 2011.

Anonymous is an upcoming thriller directed by Roland Emmerich. It stars Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave. It will be released theatrically in the United States on 28 October 2011. It is produced by Centropolis Entertainment and Studio Babelsberg, and distributed by Columbia Pictures. Check out the recently released trailer below!

The second season of the hit sketch series will premiere on Wednesday, October 5 at 10:30 p.m. following the fall season premiere of 'South Park.'

In anticipation of the July 3, 2012 worldwide release of The Amazing Spider-Man™ in 3D, the cast and filmmakers will discuss the movie for the first time as they address the fans at Comic-Con® San Diego.

As previously reported, an Annie remake is in the works, produced by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jay-Z and partners, and starring the Smith's youngest, Willow. No other casting has been revealed (Willow has, however, expressed her wish for Brad Pitt to step into the shoes of Daddy Warbucks), and while for a time it seemed GLEE's Ryan Murphy was in talks to direct, it appears those talks are off, according to published reports. Today, New York Magazine reveals that Will Smith has called upon Emma Thompson, with whom he is currently starring in Men in Black III, to readapt John Huston's screenplay for the latest reincarnation of the famous story.

The New York Times reports today that Susan Stromen will direct a musical adaptation of Tim Burton's film, Big Fish. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Hugh Jackman and Laura Benanti recently participated in a reading of the show. The musical is aiming for a spring 2012 Broadway opening. No word from the Times if either Jackman or Benanti are confirmed for the project. Additional creative team members have yet to be announced.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season. The season will feature the World Premiere musicals Some Lovers by music legend Burt Bacharach and Tony Award winner Steven Sater and Nobody Loves You by Gaby Alter and Itamar Moses, as well as the West Coast Premiere of John Kander and Fred Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys, recently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical, directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The two plays receiving World Premiere productions are Somewhere by Globe Playwright-in-Residence Matthew Lopez and The Recommendation by Jonathan Caren. The new season also includes revivals of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show and the Eugene O'Neill classic Anna Christie directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner David Auburn. Special events include the World Premiere of Odyssey by Todd Almond, a music theater event conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet celebrating the Globe's 75th Anniversary, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program production of Twelfth Night and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which returns for its 14th consecutive year.

BroadwayWorld.com has excitedly learned that fresh from it's 12 Tony nominations this morning, The Scottsboro Boys will make its west coast premiere from April 22-June 3, 2012 at The Old Globe in San Diego.

Katori Hall's The Mountaintop will hit Broadway this fall, however, with only one of it's previously announced stars. Samuel L. Jackson will open the play as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his Broadway debut, however the team is in search of a new Camae, as Halle Berry has departed the piece due to child custody issues.'

Michael Stuhlbarg appeared as Arnold Rothstein on HBO's hit show 'Boardwalk Empire.' He last appeared as Hamlet in the Shakespeare in the Park production. Stuhlbarg was a Tony Award nominee for his work in Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman.

Cassie Beck (The Drunken City), Sherman Howard (All My Sons) and Armando Riesco (Four) have been confirmed to lead the cast of Gotham Stage Company's reading of Sara Farrington's Thanksgiving.

Off-Broadway's Gotham Stage Company is announcing the launch of their SPRINGboard Reading Series to run this April through June at Greenwich Village's historic Players Theatre.

Cassie Beck (The Drunken City), Sherman Howard (All My Sons) and Armando Riesco (Four) have been confirmed to lead the cast of Gotham Stage Company's reading of Sara Farrington's Thanksgiving.

Off Broadway Actress Juliette Fairley, best known for her work in the Charles Burnett-directed solo show Mulatto Saga, joins the Hollywood A-List cast of the feature film Art's Demise, starring veteran film and television actors Jared and Jamie Harris.

Although Ryan Murphy, creator of the smash hit GLEE, was reportedly one of the top contenders to direct, talks have ceased and Murphy has 'dropped out of contention' for the film.
