The AMAZING-SPIDER MAN set a new Tuesday box office record according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Andrew Garfield-lead reboot brought in approximately $35 million on its opening day, beating the previous Tuesday record of $27.9 held by 2007's 'Transformers. Commented a Sony executive, 'we are off to an outstanding start here in North America with big fireworks still to come!'

Sony Pictures reports that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN brought in $7.5 million from its 3,150 midnight screenings last night with $1.2 million, coming from the 300 IMAX screens which premiered midnight showings of the film.
