Columbia Artists Theatricals Company Cancels RiverCenter's Performance of GODSPELL

The Godspell production company (Columbia Artists Theatricals) has notified management of RiverCenter for the Performing Arts that it is unable to honor its contract to present one performance of that Broadway musical at RiverCenter on January 10, 2014. The cancellation is prompted by an issue with the Canadian Actors Equity Association, whose union contract governs the production.

Shaping Sound Announces 2014-15 World Tour

ELVIS LIVES Launches 2013-14 Touring Season in Folsom, CA Today

The 2013-14 national tour of ELVIS LIVES 'THE ULTIMATE ELVIS TRIBUTE ARTIST EVENT' launches in Folsom, Calif. today, October 7. Dean Z, the newly crowned 2013 winner of EPE's Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest joins the touring cast of ELVIS LIVES during its winter 2014 engagements.

DANNY ELFMAN'S MUSIC FROM THE FILMS OF TIM BURTON Adds Third and Final Show, 10/30

A third and final show, on Wednesday, October 30 at 8:15 pm, has been added ofDanny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton, a unique concert with the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra and the Page LA Choir conducted by John Mauceri, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. Performances were already announced for Tuesday, October 29 at 8:15 pm, and Halloween, October 31 at 8:15 pm, which is sold out.

Gloriæ Dei Cantores to Celebrate 25th Anniversary with Concerts, 9/27-28

Gloriae Dei Cantores, the internationally acclaimed choir from Orleans, Massachusetts, continues its 2013 25th Anniversary Celebration - a series of concerts illuminating choral treasures from rich cultural traditions around the globe - with concerts on Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28 at the Church of the Transfiguration, Orleans. The repertoire features The Twelve by William Walton (with orchestra), Psalm 150 by William Mathias (with orchestra), O Jesu Christ, meins Lebens Licht by J.S. Bach (with wind instruments), and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Mass in G Minor.

A second show, on Tuesday, October 29 at 8:15 pm, has been added of Danny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton, a unique concert with the Hollywood Studio Symphony and the Page LA Choir conducted by John Mauceri, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. The first show on Halloween, October 31 was sold out, 12 minutes after it went on sale.

(EPE), announced today that it will kick off the 2013/2014 touring season of the acclaimed theatrical attraction ELVIS LIVES 'THE ULTIMATE ELVIS TRIBUTE ARTIST EVENT' in Folsom, Calif. on October 7, 2013. Dean Z, the newly crowned 2013 winner of EPE's Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will join the touring cast ofELVIS LIVES during its winter 2014 engagements. American Express will be providing marketing support and giving fans priority access to tickets for the tour. As of today, 18 markets are booked for the tour with more to be added.

The repertoire features rarely performedmasterpieces Missa Brevis by Zoltán Kodály, Cherubic Hymn by Howard Hanson, Brazilian Psalm by Jean Berger, and Lo, the Full, Final Sacrifice by Gerald Finzi. Tickets are $35 ($30 Seniors and Free for students and under 18.)

Howard County Arts Council Seeks Artsits for Head StART in ART Residencies

Visual and performing artists are needed for residencies for the Head StART in ART program for the 2013-2014 school year. Residencies will take place at the Ellicott City Head Start Center or the Tubman Head Start Center in Columbia. Artists seeking a residency must have experience working with children; experience with pre-K is preferred. The performing artist residency will conclude with performances by the Head Start children. The visual artist residency will conclude with the completion of an art project for display at their Head Start Center or individual projects for students to take home. Applications are available online at www.hocoarts.org or at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The deadline for proposals is August 15, 2013.
