The program will also feature Martha@... 20, a special performance marking the 20th anniversary of Move's highly acclaimed performances as Martha Graham in the Martha@... series. Mills composed the piece for his longtime friend and new musical collaborator, critically acclaimed violinist Robert McDuffie, with whom Mills has been close since the two grew up up together in Macon, GA. The pair is joined on the recording by the McDuffie Center for Strings Ensemble conducted by Ward Stare, made up of students from the award-winning Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University.

The program will be performed during February 4-7 at several venues, including an important debut at the new Maltz Performing Arts Center of Case Western Reserve University. The performances will coincide with a highly anticipated release of the program on CD, for British record label AVIE.

Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, proudly announces its 24th season under Music Director Jeannette Sorrell. Fresh from a series of highly prestigious international engagements this summer, Apollo's Fire enters a new era as one of Northeast Ohio's two world-class orchestras. Following the ensemble's triumphant debut at the Tanglewood Festival in July, the press remarked simply: “Apollo's Fire conquered Tanglewood. The encore truly brought the house down.” (The Boston Music Intelligencer). With AF's already sold-out BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Festival debuts both slated for this August, “Apollo's Fire under the direction of Sorrell has put Cleveland firmly on the period-performance map” (The New Yorker). This summer, Apollo's Fire embarks on its fourth international tour, performing with world-renowned violinist, Alina Ibragimova, at the BBC Proms in London (Aug. 15), The Aldeburgh Music/Snape Proms in the UK (Aug. 16), and performing a separate chamber program at the Tuscany Musical Landscapes Festival in Italy (Aug. 21). Apollo's Fire's debut at the BBC Proms will be followed by a VIP reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires. Additionally, Apollo's Fire presents “Greatest Hits of the 1720s” at the prestigious Tanglewood Festival in Lenox, MA on July 2.
