Antebellum was invited to premiere at the 2013 New Orleans Fringe Festival this November, as part of the curated Fringe-managed venue performance series. The vibrant experimental theatre performance is inspired by the real-life histories of three characters roaming in New Orleans at the time, illuminating the notion of fame and celebrity in the antebellum era. Antebellum will run November 21-24 at Mardi Gras Zone (Architect St., Riverside)

The Military Writers Society of America has awarded Albert Ashforth the bronze medal award for his thriller, The Rendition. Ashforth joined the army and served overseas after graduating high school. When he returned, he earned a B.A. from Brooklyn College and a M.A. and a Ph.D. from New York University. He worked for two New York newspapers before returning to Europe as an instructor for the University of Maryland's Overseas Program. He also served at the German Military Academy training NATO officers and as an instructor at the 10th Group Special Forces headquarters in Bad Tolz. As a military contractor, he has done tours in Bosnia, Macedonia, Germany, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. Dr. Ashforth is now on the faculty at the State University of New York and lives in New York City.
