A remake of the 1980 original hit film FAME swings into theaters tonight, September 25. Like the original, this interpretation will follow a talented and tenacious group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. Blood, sweat and tears accompany the students as they learn to balance academia with the school's demanding arts curriculum, their own often-precarious family situations, while working to thrive in an incredibly competitive atmosphere, as they fine-tune their skills to enter the even more ferociously competitive realm of the professional arts.
Variety is reporting that Debbie Allen, Charles S. Dutton, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally and Bebe Neuwirth have signed on for the roles of instructors and supervisors in the upcoming film remake of FAME. Filming is set to start on Tuesday, with a release date of September 25, 2009.
