The Colony Hotel - which The Palm Beach Post has hailed as "probably the best place for cabaret on the planet" - plans another sizzling, song-filled summer with some really hot and fast-rising performers straight from Manhattan's leading cabarets - several of whom are making their Royal Room debut and other performers who are returning favorites for loyal fans of the Royal Room Supper Club.
The Colony Hotel's world famous Royal Room is widely celebrated for presenting "immaculately staged cabaret performances" by well known Grammy- and Tony-winning stars (Conde Nast Traveler, February 2011).

Drama Desk-nominated composer Robert Waldman (The Robber Bridegroom) and librettist/lyricist Marjorie Duffield will premiere selections from their musical-in-process Final Act at New York Theatre Barn's monthly platform for new musicals, NYTB in the D-Lounge (at the Daryl Roth Theatre) on May 14, 2012.

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining announced this morning that Joyce DeWitt will star in Sam Bobrick's romantic comedy, Remember Me. Miss DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as 'Janet Wood' in the ABC Television hit series "Three's Company," but she is no stranger to live theater, working both as actress and director in a stage career which spans over forty years. She recently starred in A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical and the Canadian productions of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Dinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo.

'Marlene Dietrich -- ein Name, der mit unglaublicher Zärtlichkeit beginnt und mit einem Peitschenknall endet.' schrieb Ernest Hemingway. Die große Dietrich, Schauspielerin, Sängerin, Entertainerin und berühmteste Tochter Berlins, verstarb vor zwanzig Jahren am 06. Mai 1992. 20 Jahre ist es auch her, dass der Lesben- und Schwulenverband Berlin-Brandenburg gegründet wurde. Aus diesem Anlass gab es eine große Benefizgala im Wintergarten Theater mit dem erklärten Ziel Spenden zugunsten eines Denkmals für Magnus Hirschfeld zu sammeln, um an die im 19. Jahrhundert entstandene und im Nationalsozialismus zerschlagene erste homosexuelle Emanzipationsbewegung zu erinnern. Das Denkmal soll gegenüber dem Bundeskanzleramt am Magnus-Hirschfeld-Ufer errichtet werden.

After seven years of writing, re-writing, fine tuning, and revelatory readings, Alexander deJong's opulent Liberace musical, ALL THAT GLITTERS will be presented in its Pre-Broadway workshop from Tuesday, May 8 through Friday, May 11 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (450 West 37 Street - between Ninth and Tenth Avenues). The musical is aiming for an April 2013 Broadway Opening.

The New York Youth Symphony's Jazz Band Classic concludes its tenth season on Wednesday, May 23, 2009, at 7:30pm with "Sounds From The City," featuring soloist Ann Hampton Callaway at The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Under the direction of Matt Holman, director, the group will perform songs from New York City with music by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and Frank Sinatra, as well as a big band salute to Broadway. The Adjacent Possible by Evan Weiss, commissioned through the New York Youth Symphony's acclaimed First Music program, will receive its world premiere.
