SPRING AWAKENING's Wright Joins NYMF's GAY BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, Runs 9/28-10/11

Jonathan B. Wright (Spring Awakening - Broadway original cast, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Youth in Revolt) has been cast in the New York premiere of Gay Bride of Frankenstein, a 'comic-book-rock-musical' that begins its run at the New York Musical Theatre Festival on September 28. Wright joins fellow Spring Awakening alum, Emma Hunton, completing an outstanding cast which includes Darryl Winslow (Avenue Q, Evil Dead, Unlock'd - NYMF), Jeremiah James (Carousel - London), Dana Aber, Christian D. White, Christopher Hudson Myers and Ashley Kate Adams.

NYMF's 4th Annual 'Next Broadway Sensation' Competition Begins 9/13, Open Auditions Held 8/29

New York Musical Theatre Festival's 'Next Broadway Sensation,' formerly known as 'Broadway Idol,' returns for its fourth year. Diana DeGarmo, 'American Idol' (Season 3) runner-up, now in The Toxic Avenger at New World Stages, will serve as host for the competition's first round on September 13; celebrity hosts for the semifinals on September 20 and the Broadway Sensation October 4 finale will be announced shortly. Confirmed judges include Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, upcoming film Taking Woodstock), Bailey Hanks and Orfeh (Legally Blonde), composer/lyricist Paul Scott Goodman (Rooms), Kacie Sheik and Allison Case (Hair), and record producer Noah Cornman of Sh-k-boom Records... CLEAR BLUE TUESDAY Comes To The NY Musical Theatre Festival 9/10

The New York Musical Theatre Festival will proudly present the World Premiere of Clear Blue Tuesday, a musical movie by Elizabeth Lucas on Thursday, September 10 at both 7pm and 9:15pm. The screenings will take place at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) Theatre (333 West 23rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

The June 2008 broadcast of the 62nd Annual Tony Awards was honored today with two Prime Time Emmy Award nominations in the Outstanding Special Class Programs Category & Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special Category. The nominations were announced live this morning from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood by actors Chandra Wilson and Jim Parsons.

The Tony Administration Committee revealed the names of a quartet of honorees who are to be recognized in the four non-competitive Tony categories. Composer/lyricist Jerry Herman, Virginia's Signature Theatre, and longtime press agent Shirley Herz will be honored at the 63rd annual Tony Awards ceremony on June 7. Actress/writer Phyllis Newman will receive the newest Tony Award for her volunteer work as an advocate for women's health.
