Bay Area Musicals!, the newest non-profit theatrical organization to join the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area arts community, closes out its inaugural season with the multiple Tony Award-winning musical comedy, La Cage aux Folles. This thrilling and warmhearted farce centers around Georges and his lover Albin, who stars as Zaza at their St. Tropez drag nightclub 'La Cage aux Folles.' Problems arise when Georges' twenty-five year old son, Jean-Michel - a result from a brief encounter years back - announces that he is engaged to Anne Dindon, the daughter of a well-known homophobic politician, Edouard Dindon. Anne's parents want to come and meet Jean-Michel's mother and father. Little do they know that Albin, a man, has essentially been Jean-Michel's mother figure his whole life. This scenario propels audiences into side-splitting laughter, as well as teary-eyed moments of tenderness. La Cage Aux Folles is widely regarded as Jerry Herman's best score and features such classic songs as 'The Best of Times is Now,' 'Song In the Sand,' 'La Cage Aux Folles,' and 'I Am What I Am.'

The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance opens March 25 at Masquers Playhouse in Point Richmond. A celebrated modern classic, The Elephant Man tells the true story of Victorian freak-show attraction Joseph Merrick. The renowned doctor Frederick Treves takes Merrick into his care, making him a cause celebre. Astonishing the great and good with his intelligence and his resounding desire for love and understanding, Merrick is redeemed from a life of squalor. Even before the beloved musical begins its run at Cinnabar Theater, 'La Cage aux Folles' has proven so popular that the nonprofit has added another week of performances. Opening on October 18, and originally scheduled to close November 3, this irresistible show has been extended through November 10.

Cinnabar Theater in Sonoma County is transformed into one of France's finest nightclubs for "La Cage aux Folles," the exuberant show that's earned 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical. After Cinnabar presents a comedy called "The Pavilion" in September, "La Cage aux Folles" kicks off on Friday, October 18 and sashays across the stage through Sunday, November 3.
