With the April 28th Tony Award eligibility deadline looming, there are seven big new shows to get excited about.

In a time where source material is a controversial topic, many people state that there have been a lack of original ideas for Broadway shows. Recently, movie adaptations have been the newest trend to hit the stage. However, adaptations are certainly not a new phenomenon. Since the beginning of what is generally considered the traditional Broadway musical, shows have been adapted from other works. Classic shows such as SHOW BOAT and THE KING AND I found the origins to their stories in novels. More recently, novel adaptations have found success with THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and the 2014 Tony Winner for Best Musical, A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER.

Just announced, TUCK EVERLASTING, the new musical based on Natalie Babbitt's beloved best-selling novel of the same name, will celebrate National Book Month by offering a limited number of $19.75 seats to select preview performances in honor of the year that the novel was published.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced the cast for HADESTOWN, written by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and developed with and directed by the inventive two-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Three Pianos; Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812).

The new Broadway musical based on Natalie Babbitt's best-selling and award-winning novel begins previews March 31st for an April 26th opening.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced an extension for RED SPEEDO, the third production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2015/16 Season. RED SPEEDO began previews on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 and officially opened on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003), and will now run through Sunday, April 3, 2016. Tickets for RED SPEEDO are on sale at www.nytw.org.
