Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced casting today for I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett, the first production to open The Rep's 60th Anniversary 2013/14 Season, Venus in Fur, coming to the Stiemke Studio in late September, Forever Plaid, opening at the end of October in the Stackner Cabaret and Noises Off, the second production in the Quadracci Powerhouse this season.
The Richard Rodgers Theatre Box Office (226 West 46th Street) opens today at 10:00am EST for the new Broadway production of Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET, starring international film star Orlando Bloom and two-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad as the titular star-crossed lovers, and directed by five-time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux. The opening of the box office also marks the launch of the production's Student Ticket Program; in order to make this production accessible to all, 100 tickets per performance will be set aside at $20 for students and educators.
Soul Doctor: Journey of a Rock-Star Rabbi, which tells the true story of the beloved and controversial father of popular Jewish music, Shlomo Carlebach, will open at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre this summer. The new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, has announced its general rush ticket policy for all performances beginning with the first preview on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm at Circle in the Square Theatre (1600 Broadway, entrance on 40th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue). The limited number of $30 general rush tickets will be available each day at the box office beginning at10am for that day's performance(s) only.
