HCD to Present GISELLE, 7/25

The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) Dance Department presents Giselle, a ballet by Adolphe Adam, on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Guest choreographer and artistic director of the production is Xiomara Reyes, a world-renowned dancer who retired from the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in May after 12 years as one of its principal dancers. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased online at hartford.edu/hcd or by calling 860.768.4228.

Signature Theatre's CABARET, directed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner(Signature's Sunday in the Park with George, Dreamgirls), plays through June 28. The John Kander and Fred Ebb classic is the final production of Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary. The production will star Taylor (NBC's Smash, Broadway's Rock of Ages) as The Emcee and Weed (Off-Broadway's Heathers: The Musical, Found) as Sally Bowles. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Announces Schedule for Spring 2015 Studio Series

CHICAGO - Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, under the artistic direction of Glenn Edgerton and in partnership with the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, is pleased to continue its new series of master classes and workshops for advanced, pre-professional and professional dancers in Chicago.

MEMPHIS Stars Receive Cabrillo's Selvin Charitable Foundation Scholarship

MEMPHIS stars Lakeisha Renee Houston and Brandon Fleming are recipients of the first SELVIN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP. Harry and Maureen Selvin, longtime patrons of the arts and supporters of Cabrillo Music Theatre, have developed this scholarship, to be presented on the final performance of each Cabrillo Music Theatre production, to the performer in that Cabrillo show that best exemplifies the spirit of Cabrillo Music Theatre. At the November 23rd performance of MEMPHIS, Houston and Fleming each receive a $500 cash scholarship, a personal trophy, and name recognition on a permanent plaque of all those recognized, to reside in the Cabrillo Music Theatre office.

Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent and Xiomara Reyes, Principal Dancers with American Ballet Theatre, have announced their retirements from the Company at the conclusion of the 2015 Metropolitan Opera House season in New York City. “These three unique ballerinas have each made such distinctive contributions to ABT throughout the years,” Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie stated. “With them, an era of our history resides. Their remarkable careers will be three more reasons to celebrate our 75th Anniversary Season.”

FringeArts Announces 2014 Fringe Festival Programming

The School of American Ballet's Workshop Performance Benefit 2014 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 celebrated 50 years of these annual performances and raised nearly $860,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard's Morse Hall, followed by the presentation of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Service to Dena Abergel, SAB faculty member and NYCB Children's Ballet Master, and Wien Awards for Outstanding Promise to Lyrica Blankfein, Christopher Grant, Baily Jones, and Addie Tapp. Scroll down for photos from the event!
