Photo Flash: Meet Sierra Rep's CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES

Every community church and club has them - the wise-cracking, apron-wearing women working back in the kitchen to keep the flock fed and everything humming, whether it's 40 below for the Christmas dinner or the June bride can't be found. They're the Church Basement Ladies, the unsung heroes who step into the spotlight in Sierra Rep's delicious new musical comedy opening at the Fallon House Theatre April 19. They're the Church Basement Ladies, the unsung heroes who step into the spotlight in Sierra Rep's delicious new musical comedy opening at the Fallon House Theatre April 19. Think “Prairie Home Companion” meets “The Carol Burnett Show” and “I Love Lucy,” throw in lots of singing, dancing and good-natured fun, and you get the picture.

The Third Annual 'Love 'Round the Piano' will take place at The Lantern Lodge, 411 N. College Street, Myerstown, PA this evening, February 9th, 2013 at 6:30 pm. This romantic musical cabaret will feature Gretna Theatre stars from recent past seasons including Christopher Vettel, Laura D'Andre, Erin Burniston and Joe Byrne.

BWW Reviews: Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS at the Gateway

Whenever you see a production presented by the Gateway Theatre, you're in for a wonderful event. Their current musical, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, based on the Paramount Pictures film, is no exception. This David Ruttura directed production is even fortunate to have the original sets and choreography as the Broadway showing (more on that later).

Gretna Playhouse with a sparkling opening performance by the one and only Tommy Tune in "Steps in Time" featuring the Manhattan Rhythm Kings for a single performance tonight, June 3 at 7:30 pm. The nine-time Tony Award winner will perform his Broadway biography in song and dance to celebrate 50 years on the Great White Way.

Symphony Space's Gertrude Stein's Paris, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the vibrant cultural milieu of Gertrude Stein's Paris, continues tonight, April 27 with two fully staged productions devoted to the inspiration Stein's work had on vocal and operatic repertoire. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson's Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. Directed by Nancy Rhodes, this salute to Stein's work through American opera is a fresh examination of the influence Stein has had throughout the arts.
