The Douglas Morrisson Theatre (DMT) has announced the sixth production in the 2013-2014 'Bare Bones' staged reading series: 'DYING CITY' by Christopher Shinn, a provocative, psychological drama about two people who share a tragic legacy.

The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program continues to grow its annual Will on Wheels program, which tours works of William Shakespeare to schools around the Bay Area, with a record-setting 24 performances this year. The 2014 Will on Wheels tour spotlights abridged versions of two Shakespeare classics: Romeo and Juliet and a two-woman production of As You Like It. Both productions feature student actors from the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program class of 2015.

Previews begin Thursday, October 24, for Year of the Rooster by Youngblood playwright Eric Dufault, directed by John Giampietro, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. Stable Cable Lab Co. has announced the cast and creative team for the workshop production of Nibbler, a play by Ken Urban, directed by Stephen Brackett. Nibblerwill begin invited presentations on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios (244 W. 54th St - between Broadway & 8th Ave.) and is scheduled to run through November 23rd, 2013. The results of the workshop production - including the actors' experience with the work, the aesthetics of the director and designers, and the audience's feedback - will be invaluable to the development of this play and talkbacks will follow several performances to discuss the work.

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced that Rene Augesen will play Blanche DuBois and Joe Manganiello will play Stanley Kowalski in its first-ever production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, the Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece by Tennessee Williams. Directed by Mark Rucker, the production, which will open Yale Rep's 2013-14 season, will play tonight, September 20-October 12, at the University Theatre (222 York Street).

Goodman Theatre Announces Latino-Focused 2013 New Stages Festival, 12/7-22

Now in its 10th year, Goodman Theatre's 2013 New Stages festival features five FREE new plays-two fully staged workshop productions performed in repertory plus three staged readings-in the Owen Theatre, December 7 - 22. All five plays celebrate Latino playwrights: The Upstairs Concierge, a contemporary farce about celebrity and baseball by Pulitzer Prize finalist (for The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) Kristoffer Diaz; and The Solid Sand Below, an examination of the intoxicating nature of war which Martin Zimmerman developed during his time as a member of the Goodman's Playwrights Unit, and which was selected for the 2013 National Playwrights Conference at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Connecticut. The three staged readings, which complement the two workshop productions over the December 13 - 15 "Industry Weekend," are TBA.
