Cutting Ball Theater closes its 12th season with the adventurous RISK IS THIS…THE CUTTING BALL NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAYS FESTIVAL, one of the only play festivals in America solely dedicated to experimental works for the stage. This year's festival, which will run tonight, June 8 to July 14, features two new works and five new translations in staged readings. Like the 2011 festival, which featured workshops of two Cutting Ball commissioned works, this year's festival offers a unique opportunity to see plays in development, alongside the artists creating them, as the works find their theatrical voice.

Playwrights Foundation (PF) today announced the second annual SF One-Minute Play Festival (SF OMPF), a two-day event on December 17 & 18, 2011 showcasing the talents of 32 Bay Area playwrights, along with the region's leading directors and actors.

The ambitious season opens in October with Maurice Maeterlinck's PELLEAS AND MELISANDE in a new translation by Cutting Ball Artistic Director Rob Melrose, who will also direct. Playwrights Foundation has announced the full schedule for the 32nd annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Each play will be read twice: once during the weekend of July 17-19 and again during the following weekend of July 24-26. The full schedule of readings and events is below, by play and by date.
