Following a hugely successful eighth season, which included the Midwest Premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Social Creatures and the acclaimed short play festival, Today We Escape-inspired by Radiohead's OK COMPUTER -Tympanic Theatre Company is proud to announce its ninth season in Chicago, as well as the appointment of a new Artistic Director and co-Literary Managers. Outgoing Artistic Director Dan Caffrey, who will continue serving as part of the company's Literary and Marketing Committees, and incoming Artistic Director Christopher Acevedo are proud to announce the two plays that will be comprising Tympanic's ninth season:- Blueberry Toast by Mary Laws, and Paper City Phoenix by Walt McGough. In addition to announcing Acevedo as the new Artistic Director, the company also proudly announces the appointment of Ted Brengle and Joshua Ellison as co-Literary Managers.

Lifeline Theatre opens its 2014-15 KidSeries season with The Velveteen Rabbit, based on the beloved classic by Margery Williams, adapted by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Elise Kauzlaric, and directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Amanda Link. One Christmas morning, a shy stuffed bunny enters the world of a young boy's nursery. Initially ignored in favor of more modern toys, she waits patiently to be noticed, wondering if she will ever be loved like the others. When the wise old Skin Horse reveals the majesty and mystery of what it means to become real, the Velveteen Rabbit begins an odyssey of the heart to make a lasting connection with her boy that will endure for always. Return to a simpler time with this heartwarming story about the transformative power of love. This production is recommended for children ages five and up (children under two not permitted), and runs one hour with no intermission. The book will be on sale in the lobby.

The Secrets Project is an exploration of our humanity through secrets. Genesis Ensemble investigates the nuanced personal, social and political impact secrets have on our lives through devised performance.

Gregor and the Squonk is a modern fairy-tale; a twisted, yet touching examination of how far people are willing to go for the sake of beauty. Set in a Pennsylvania forest during the dead of winter, Gregor and the Squonk centersaround Gregor Courtepy, a hunter deeply devoted to his vain wife, Margaret. After a countless number of plastic surgeries leaves her broken and self-loathing, Gregor enlists the help of their doctor to find a creature rumored to grant eternal beauty to whoever captures it.
