Living in the suburbs of Long Island my entire life, this was a pretty big deal: leading up to my arrival at the Chain Theatre for Variations Theatre Group's production of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' by Dale Wasserman - based on the novel by Ken Kesey, which also inspired the five-time Academy Award-winning film.

Variations Theatre Group's critically acclaimed production of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO will conclude its limited engagement tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Chain Theatre. Inspired by the 1984 murder of controversial shock jock Alan Berg, TALK RADIO is set in a Cleveland radio station over the course of Barry Champlain's two-hour broadcast as he's being scrutinized that night by producers fixated on taking the show national, and fueled as always by coffee, cocaine and Jack Daniel's. Barry's jousts with his unseen callers-ranging from a white supremacist to a woman obsessed with her garbage disposal-are interspersed with confrontations by his ex-deejay pal and his sometime girlfriend/producer.

by Jennifer Fried - Apr 29, 2014

After a sunny spring afternoon with beer, wine and nachos three girlfriends and I had the delight of previewing the musical Dragula.
