TALK RADIO to End Off-Broadway Run Tomorrow
by Tyler Peterson - Sep 26, 2014

Variations Theatre Group's critically acclaimed production of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO will conclude its limited engagement tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Chain Theatre. Inspired by the 1984 murder of controversial shock jock Alan Berg, TALK RADIO is set in a Cleveland radio station over the course of Barry Champlain's two-hour broadcast as he's being scrutinized that night by producers fixated on taking the show national, and fueled as always by coffee, cocaine and Jack Daniel's. Barry's jousts with his unseen callers-ranging from a white supremacist to a woman obsessed with her garbage disposal-are interspersed with confrontations by his ex-deejay pal and his sometime girlfriend/producer.

BWW Reviews: DRAGULA THE MUSICAL
by Jennifer Fried - Apr 29, 2014

After a sunny spring afternoon with beer, wine and nachos three girlfriends and I had the delight of previewing the musical Dragula. The initial read through of the musical was fantastically hilarious, entertaining, and still made a statement about who may be truly different in a heterosexual, Christian dominated world.

GLEE-Cap: Prom Queen
by Robert Lawlor - May 10, 2011

Gleeks - It's Prom-time at McKinley High! Are you ready for a Glee-tastic evening of gowns, tuxedos, and prom royalty?! Break out your prom dresses and tuxedos, Gleeks! It's going to be a night to remember! With Prom fast approaching, everyone is preparing in their own way - Puck talks his campaign for King with Lauren as his queen with Jacob, who insinuates Lauren wears the pants in the relationship. Meanwhile, Principal Figgins calls Will and Sue to his office to ask Will if the Glee Club will perform at Prom due to the lost of his beloved Air Supply. The talk of prom and dates gets to Mercedes, who storms out of Glee rehearsal and admits to Rachel that all she's ever wanted is the dream prom. Kurt asks Blaine to Prom, and despite some horrible memories of a previous dance experience, Blaine accepts. Mercedes and Rachel propose a trip-date situation to Sam, who seemingly agrees to the arrangement.

Variations Theatre Group Presents Sam Shepard's FOOL FOR LOVE,2/23-27, 3/1-5
by BWW News Desk - Mar 5, 2011

Artistic Director Rich Ferraioli of Variations Theatre Group decided to stage the gut wrenching 90 minute play FOOL FOR LOVE after realizing that Off-Off-Broadway Theatre 'needed a bit of an awakening'. The Sam Shepard classic, with its argumentative, ping pong style of dialogue and sexual tension so thick it makes you squirm, is the perfect choice for a cast and crew of talented, independent artists who are ready to prove they measure above typical Off-Off-Broadway standards. 'This play is to be performed relentlessly without a break', Shepard wrote. With a tight knit cast and dedicated crew, that is exactly what audience members will get.
