Chain Theatre Playwriting Lab Supports Diverse Voices In The American Theatre

Chain Theatre Playwriting Lab aims to honor the themes and legacies of the great diverse American Playwrights of our time, through the development of new theatrical work.

Since its inception, Chain Theatre has developed original and published plays with a focus on visceral storytelling relating to the human experience. Chain is excited to announce its new play development lab, highlighting underrepresented voices in the American theatre. The Lab will be led by Sundance Institute & Creative Minds Fellow Ella Jane New and Chain Theatre Director of Development, Christina Perry.

This program has been made possible with the support of New York Department of Cultural Affairs.

To apply all playwrights must be NYC based artists and part of an underrepresented community in the arts. Female identifying, persons of color, LGBTQ, and trans artists are encouraged to submit. Plays must be at least 70 pages and a completed draft.

Submit for the opportunity to have your work developed and showcased with one of New York City's finest emerging theatre companies.
