In a unique special event created for Toronto International Film Festival audiences, Reitman directed a live stage reading of Alan Ball's screenplay for American Beauty. Sam Mendes' film about a family man's resplendent mid-life crisis premiered in Toronto in 1999 and went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. The one-night-only performance included Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Woody Harrelson, Adam Driver, Sarah Gadon, Nick Kroll, Mae Whitman and George Stroumboulopoulos. EW reports that Chris Colfer will be releasing his first young-adult novel on November 20th. The book, titled STRUCK BY LIGHTNING: THE CARSON PHILLIPS JOURNAL, will be an adaptation of his recently released Tribeca Film by the same name.

Image Entertainment, Inc. has acquired the home entertainment rights to Company In Concert, Stephen Sondheim's iconic tour de force on contemporary relationships, with an all-star cast including Criag Bierko, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Katie Finneran, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Hendricks, Aaron Lazar, Patti LuPone, Jill Paice, Martha Plimpton, Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jim Walton and Chryssie Whitehead. The announcement was made by Image Entertainment's Chief Acquisition Officer, Bill Bromiley.

According to Deadline.com, Ben Toth and Sam Forman have signed on to write the music and lyrics for the Broadway-bound SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE Musical. Previously announced Lonny Price will direct the show, which is set to have its world premiere at The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Charles Dillingham, Interim Executive Director) in June, 2013.

LIONSGATE's acclaimed AMC drama MAD MEN and hit Showtime comedy NURSE JACKIE earned a total of 22 Emmy(R) nominations today, including a fifth consecutive drama series nomination for MAD MEN, which made history last year with its fourth consecutive win tying the all-time Emmy(R) record in the category, and a third consecutive comedy nomination for four-time Emmy(R) winner Edie Falco, who won the Lead Actress trophy for her role in the first season of NURSE JACKIE.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced this morning the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy(R) Award nominations, recognizing AMC with 34 nominations, the most for any basic cable network for the fifth year in a row, breaking the previous 29 nomination record for the network from 2011.
