On Today, October 29 at 7:30pm, the American Showstopper series will celebrate the works of Frank Loesser whose astounding career as composer, lyricist, and librettist earned him the reputation as one of Broadway's most versatile writers.

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by audience favorite Albert George Schram as conductor for Great American Songbook, the first concert in the Pops Series on October 22 at 2 & 8 p.m.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) kicks off its 2016-17 newly renamed staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of THE BURDENS, written by Matt Schatz and directed by Mark Armstrong.

Broadway artists Debbie Gravitte (Tony Award - Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Chicago), Christiane Noll (Tony Nominee - Ragtime, Original Broadway Cast - Jekyll & Hyde), LaKisha Jones (The Color Purple, American Idol finalist), Hugh Panaro (The Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat) and Doug LaBrecque (The Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat) will sing a benefit concert on Sunday, October 9 in Baton Rouge with all proceeds going to a disaster relief fund to aid those effected by the flood.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Township of Maplewood. Beginning with the 2016-17 season, MDR will present its staged readings and other productions as the resident theater company of The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. in Maplewood, NJ). MDR's newly named staged reading series, "Theater at The Woodland", will take place in the Parlor, and larger productions, such as the well-known annual event Listen To Your Mother, will be held in the Great Hall.

While I was watching FOLLIES, I was reminded of our own beloved Fox Theatre, and how it had tread a similar path during the 1970's. Like the fictional Weismann Theatre where this story's action takes place, it had been fallen on hard times, reduced to screening Kung-Fu and exploitation film fare before being renovated and reopened. But there is no restoration in the cards for the Weismann, and the people that come to it for one final celebrated glimpse may be nearing the point of being past reclamation themselves. This is superior Sondheim, and though it's not revived as often as some of his other works, it's full of the kind of interweaving melodies and motifs that this master composer is so adept at creating. The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that just kicked off this week, July 7 on the Bryant Park Stage. Award-winning non-for-profit Broadway Sings for Pride (www.BroadwaySingsForPride.com) held their 6th annual PRIDE benefit concert on Monday, June 20, 2016. To start the night, Daniel Quadrino, from Broadway's Wicked and Newsies, sang 'Imagine' to reflect on the tragedy that happened in Orlando. He was joined onstage by members of the New York community, to echo the sentiment that New York stands behind Orlando and that art can be used to inspire and change minds. Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, which is presenting 54 Celebrates The Neil Simon Theatre, on June 29th, 2016, has added Emmy Award winning director Lonny Price to the star-studded event. Mr. Price was seen on the Neil Simon stage in original production of Stephen Sondheim & George Furth's Merrily We Roll Along. Since then he has become an accomplished director of both theatre and television.
