Willie Wood, an aspiring playwright from Westfield has spent more than a year working diligently on a script for a show inspired by singer June Christy's 1954's landmark jazz vocal, Something Cool. On June 24th, five young actors will bring Wood's script to life on the stage of the Carmel Community Playhouse at Clay Terrace.

Hometown, this Summer's celebratory season of work at the Royal & Derngate (7 June to 17 July) re-imagines the past and future of Northampton and explores the complex, changeable and often emotional responses we have towards the place we were born in or where we put down our roots.

To usher in the new 2009-2010 school year at Indiana University, the IU Department of Theatre and Drama will present the collegiate premiere of The Rockae, an edgy, rock musical adaptation of Euripides' The Bacchae. The show opens Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7:30 p.m., and will be directed at IU by Emmy Award-winning director/choreographer George Pinney with musical direction by Drama Desk-nominated writer Peter Mills, who wrote the music and lyrics for the show.

All headline concerts are presented on the Dollar Bank Stage at Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh. The free live music series, a Pittsburgh tradition, is sponsored by Dollar Bank.
