Birdland will kick-off their exciting month of programming with the following acts.

Trumpeter Chris Botti is returning by popular demand with an intimate live concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Wednesday, April 12th at 8PM. He has had four number one albums on the Billboard's Jazz Albums listings and received a Grammy® for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Impressions. Botti has firmly established himself as the world's largest selling jazz instrumentalist.  

James Levine, Christoph Eschenbach, Gustavo Dudamel, Susanna Malkki, Kent Nagano, a "virtual" Esa-Pekka Salonen, and three conductors making Chicago Symphony Orchestra debuts take the podium. 

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents famous duets and solos of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, including "Love is Here to Stay," "Just One of Those Things" and highlights from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, April 21-23 in Red Bank, Newark and New Brunswick. Vocalist Marva Hicks and trumpeter Byron Stripling bring Armstrong and Fitzgerald's legendary partnership to life; Lee Musiker conducts.

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts continues its star-packed 25th anniversary season in April 2017 with an amazing array of musical performances from Broadway to Motown, from classy Nat King Cole to classic Cole Porter, from piano masterpieces to Pokemon. Also, a soul searing drama (Judgment at Nuremberg) and a side-splitting comedy (Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man).

The Richmond Jazz Society and Virginia Repertory Theatre announce Ella at 100, April 25, 2017, 7:00 P.M. at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. This momentous evening of jazz will celebrate the 100th birthday of Ella Fitzgerald, a Newport News native. Hundreds of events are taking place around the world to celebrate her legacy this spring. The Richmond event falls on Fitzgerald's actual birthday.

ONCE, winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will play at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

The Kentucky Center's Whitney Hall and Brown Theatre have both been recognized among the top 200 theatre venues in the world, based on ticket sales.  Whitney Hall ranked 33rd and the Brown Theatre ranked 149th.  The report was issued by Pollstar, considered to be the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry.

The Houston Symphony and Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada announced today details of the 2017-18 season, which marks Orozco-Estrada's fourth year as music director.
