The McCallum Theatre announced today that smooth jazz favorite Chris Botti and international sensations The TEN Tenors, two of the most popular performers in McCallum history, will headline its 30th Anniversary fundraising gala to be held on Thursday, November 30th, honoring the Valley's leading philanthropist and McCallum Board Chairman Harold Matzner.

Invitations for the performance and pre-show dinner at one of four restaurants were recently mailed. The restaurants are Cuistot, Jillian's, La Spiga and Wally's Desert Turtle. Additional invitations and sponsorships are available now and may be obtained by contacting Judi Cohen, Manager of Special Events at (760) 776-6186 or jcohen@mccallum-theatre.org. Tickets for the full evening are available for $500 and up by contacting Ms. Cohen.

The co-chairs of the McCallum Theatre 30th Anniversary Gala are James Houston and R.D. Hubbard.

Proceeds from this annual fundraising event help fund McCallum Theatre operations as well as arts education programs that bring training in theatre, dance, music and visual arts to 40,000 schoolchildren and educators each year, in more than 300 classrooms. These funds also make it possible to continue to bring world-class performances to over 150,000 residents and visitors to the Coachella Valley annually.

The evening's Guest of Honor is the extraordinary Harold Matzner. For more than thirty years, entrepreneur, humanitarian and philanthropist, Harold Matzner, has had an unparalleled impact on the Coachella Valley. He has contributed more than $70 million to local non-profits and is credited with revitalizing the Palm Springs International Film Festival and guiding the McCallum Theatre to record-breaking success. The list of his charitable affiliations is nearly as remarkable as he is. Harold is one of eleven distinguished Americans selected nationally by the Horatio Alger Association as new members this year and inducted by Judge Clarence Thomas in the courtroom of the United States Supreme Court.

In the recent, expansive 80th birthday special section in The Desert Sun, Mr. Matzner's friends and colleagues shared the extraordinary impact he has had on the Valley's social and cultural life. Described variously as "one of most generous people I have ever met," "the epitome of style, savvy and talent" and "PhilanthropyMan - our own desert super hero," the unmistakable conclusion is that Harold Matzner single-handedly has made a difference in the lives of literally thousands of souls.

The McCallum is particularly delighted to honor our Chairman for the past ten years. His wisdom, judgment and exceptional guidance are the cornerstones of what makes the McCallum so special to so many in our community. There is only one Harold Matzner. And we couldn't be more grateful that he has made the McCallum, the arts and the Valley's overall quality of life his abiding priorities in a life extraordinarily well led.

From the release of his first solo album, Chris Botti has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre. Botti has thoroughly established himself as one of the important, innovative figures of the contemporary music world. Hitting the road for 250+ days per year, Chris and his band have performed with the finest symphonies and at the world's most prestigious venues, including performances at the World Series, the White House, and the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. His recordings and his association with PBS have led to multiple #1 jazz albums, Gold and Platinum albums, and Grammy Awards.

The TEN Tenors are undoubtedly one of Australia's most successful touring entertainment groups of all time, with more than 2,500 live shows to their credit and more than 90 million people worldwide witnessing their unmistakable charm, camaraderie and vocal power. Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2017, the TEN Tenors have cemented their place as one of the world's most beloved classically-based contemporary music groups of all time.
