Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut's premier outdoor summer Shakespeare theater company, announces the Apprentice Company for its upcoming production of Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing, under the direction of Joanna Settle. This year's Apprentice Company of 16 is the largest group yet, chosen from over 120 applicants. Williamstown Theatre Festival's production of the Tony Award-winning musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will close on July 11. The all-male cast is directed by Jessica Stone (Butley, The Odd Couple), musical directed by Gary Adler (Avenue Q, Altar Boyz), and choreographed by Denis Jones (Legally Blonde, Broadway Bares).

Starring as Pseudolus is Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald. Signature Theatre Company continues its celebration of the Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) with special presentations of three more plays from the historic NEC repertoire. Curated by NEC Founder Douglas Turner Ward, Signature Associate Artist Ruben Santiago-Hudson and the Signature Theatre Company staff, these plays will be read on stage at the Peter Norton Space (555 West 42nd Street) on select evenings throughout the season. These classic works give greater insight into the history of this vital and groundbreaking company.
