Actress Eva Longoria , San Antonio philanthropist and business leader Henry R. Munoz III and San Juan attorney and activist Andres W. Lopez , in partnership with the nation's leading Latino organizations, announced today that Raul Esparza , Jose Feliciano , Juan Diego Florez , Melanie Griffith , George Lopez , Mario Lopez , Rita Moreno , Chita Rivera , Robert Rodriguez , Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner , Ballet Hispanico, Coral Contigas, Coro de Ninos de San Juan , the Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra, the Pan American Symphony Orchestra and other entertainers will headline 'In Performance at the Kennedy Center,' an event honoring the presidential inauguration and Latino arts and culture on Sunday, January 20, at 7:00 p.m.

According to the Associated Press, The Kennedy Center's process for selecting the Kennedy Center Honors is under review after the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts said in September that Latinos have long been excluded.

For nearly four decades (1957-1994), Martha Swope was America's pre-eminent photographer of theater and dance, her discerning eye chronicling hundreds of classical ballets, modern dance, and Broadway performances and performers. But she also went behind-the-scenes, documenting what audiences never get to experience-the creative collaborations that make the magic on stage possible: rehearsals.

It's been a while since I made a last-minute decision to see a Broadway show. Not only does having kids make most of your life a scheduled occurance, but the nature of my job here at BroadwayWorld involves contacting theatre marketing folks to let them know you're interested in covering something or responding to an invite before setting foot inside a theatre. In fact, I believe the last time I just checked out what was at TKTS was my senior year at NYU. I won't tell you what year it was but here's a hint: I saw Blood Brothers. Yup, been a while.

SILENCE! The Musical will conclude its current run tonight at the Elektra Theatre, 669 Eighth Avenue (at 42nd St.) Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run today, December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. As a result, the producers determined that performances of the smash hit show will resume after a brief hiatus on January 19th.

Cabaret performer Jamie deRoy hosted an evening of her Multi MAC Award-winning variety show, Jamie deRoy & friends, on Friday, December 28th (7PM) at Manhattan's cabaret hot-spot Metropolitan Room. Joining Jamie on this holiday evening were Broadway favorite Loni Ackerman; Singer, performer and concert sensation Michael Amante; two-time Emmy Award-winning comedian Judy Gold; Tony Award-nominated actress and singer Valarie Pettiford; Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins and London's own stage, TV and cabaret star Giselle Wolf. Creator Rupert Holmes and star Will Chase of Roundabout Theatre Company's The Mystery of Edwin Drood will be interviewed on "Theater Talk" beginning tonight, December 28 at 1am (early Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS (channel 13). Additional air times are December 29 at 8:30PM, December 30 at 12:30PM, and December 31 at 7:30AM, 1:30PM and 7:30PM. SILENCE! The Musical will play a special added matinee performance today, December 26th at 2 PM at the Elektra Theatre. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run on December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. As a result, the producers have determined that performances of the smash hit show will resume after a brief hiatus on January 18th. Originally announced as a strictly limited engagement through August 13, 2011, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square, which was constructed especially for the show. SILENCE! opened at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews and spawned a highly successful L.A. production starring Davis Gaines and Christine Lakin.

Voting is now underway for Boston and continues until December 31, 2012. Winners will be announced in early January.
