Dreamgirls, the smash hit musical about an up-and-coming 1960s singing girl group, debuts in Minnesota at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre, Jan. 12-17, 2010.

The new touring production of 'Dreamgirls' is currently taking Wisconsin's Marcus Center by storm. Directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom with co-choreography by Shane Sparks, the production is re-introducing audiences to the backstage drama and on-stage glamour of three young singers who are catapulted into the spotlight, and find that fame and happiness don't necessarily go hand in hand.

Producer John Breglio and Time Warner Broadway at the Marcus Center announced casting today for the national tour of DREAMGIRLS, coming to Milwaukee January 5-10, 2010. Tickets go on sale on November 8 at Noon at the Marcus Center Box Office.

The sheer popularity of reality TV talent competitions, such as 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'American Idol' is no longer undermined: these shows have proven to be global platforms capable of launching emerging talent to millions of living rooms across the world. But while the foray into everyday water-cooler talk may be fleeting for many contestants, some find a niche to showcase their talent elsewhere, namely the stage.

Like me you may have seen the original Broadway cast of Dreamgirls which opened in 1981 that won 6 Tony Awards and ran for four years. You also may have seen the star-studded 2006 film. So, the question remains, 'Should I or shouldn't I see the revival of this landmark musical directed by Robert Longbottom?' The answer is an unqualified yes.

On December 14, Joe's Pub showcased the second annual concert presentation of New York City Christmas, featuring special guests Sherie Rene Scott and Raul Esparza. Tony Award winner Harriet Harris hosted the event, which was presented by ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty) and Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records. Stafford Arima (London's Ragtime, Altar Boyz) directed the concert.

Following a triumphant December 2008 benefit concert, ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty) and Sh-K-Boom / Ghostlight Records have announced the album release of 'New York City Christmas.' In addition, ASTEP will present a concert to celebrate the release of the CD on December 14th. The evening will feature Broadway stars Sierra Boggess, Andy Karl, Tyler Maynard, Lindsay Mendez, Orfeh, Tory Ross, Anya Singleton and Sally Wilfert.

Recording Artist & Multi-award winning Broadway Star Chester Gregory receives rave reviews in his portrayal of James 'Thunder' Early in the revival of Dreamgirls, at the world famous Apollo Theatre. The Hollywood Reporter says, 'The true standout, however, is Chester Gregory, who delivers a dynamic performance as the James Brown-like James 'Thunder' Early.'

Producer John Breglio and the Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. will bring Broadway uptown for four weeks only with Dreamgirls at the Apollo Theater, prior to the national tour of the new production of the groundbreaking musical. The national tour of Dreamgirls will kick-off at Harlem's legendary Apollo Theater (253 West 125 Street) beginning previews Saturday, November 7, 2009, and opening Sunday, November 22, 2009, for 4 weeks only, through Sunday December, 6, 2009.

The cast of the new production of DREAMGIRLS at the Apollo Theater will perform the title song 'Dreamgirls' and 'Listen' Tuesday, December 1, at 7am (EST) on CBS' 'The Early Show.'
