2010 Festival of New American Musicals Announced, New Partnership With NYMTF

The 2010 Festival of New American Musicals, a three month musical theatre festival, will be held May 16 through August 21 2010, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the annual festival, now in its third year.

NewMusicalTheatre.com, the first website ever exclusively devoted to selling sheet music by musical theater writers, launches Georgia Stitt's sheet music catalogue today. Over the course of the next several weeks and leading up to an April launch concert, NewMusicalTheatre.com will be adding a new writer to the site every Friday.

Premieres, in association with Primary Stages, introduced the cast of the world premiere of Inner Voices: Solo Musicals, to the press this week. Inner Voices consists of two one-act musicals: Mosaic with book & lyrics by Cheri Steinkellner and music and lyrics by Georgia Stitt, featuring Heidi Blickenstaff; and Whida Peru: Resurrection Tangle, with book and lyrics by David Simpatico and music by Josh Schmidt, featuring Judith Blazer. Jonathan Butterell directs both musicals, with musical direction by Andy Boroson, J. Oconer Navarro and Steve Marzullo.

The 2010 Olivier Awards will take place on 21 March 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, with Spring Awakening, Enron, Jerusalem and A Little Night Music among the standouts of the season with the most nominations. The Laurence Olivier Awards were established in 1976 as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, and Lord Olivier agreed to have his name associated with them in 1984. The Awards are run by The Society of London Theatre but are adjudicated by panels that are equally made up of members of the theatregoing public and experts chosen for their knowledge and professional experience.
